[Bontemps] Nick Nurse says Joel Embiid continues to work out on the court but that there remains no timetable for his return. Nurse goes on to say he believes there’s a “very good” chance Embiid plays before the end of the regular season.

  1. Yeah. It’s time to tank guys. I rather have a shot at getting good prospect at 13 or possibly 12. Then get my ass kicked in round 1 at be stuck with pick 16 outside the Walter, Salaun, Castle range of prospects.

  2. i love this team but we can’t seriously believe Embiid will be the difference maker if we for example get matched up with boston… right?

  3. My prediction is that 3 game homestead before the playoffs.

That’s in 2 weeks. That’s the make it or break it moment.

  4. It’s extraordinary that fans still believe Embiid will be returning this season. To bring him back from a serious injury at this juncture never made sense strategically or healthwise. Once it’s clear he’s not returning (despite him claiming he’s ready and willing), there’ll be the requisite gnashing-of-teeth response, and then the focus will quickly shift to being out from the Harris contract and the Sixers finally being in position cap-wise for Morey to do his thing in the off-season.

An aside…the new “let them play” whistle-swallowing is a boon for the league and fans, but just another reason Embiid will not be brought back. No doubt, Joel will adapt to the non-calls on both ends of the floor; however, the all-around lack of calls will drastically cut down on his in-game recovery time (making his lack of conditioning even more significant).

  5. With Joel injuries I lean on the side of pessimism.

I’d be happy to see him return for the playoffs but wouldn’t be surprised if we find out in April he won’t return due to a “setback” or such. It is what it is.

  6. Med Staff: “We know you’re not 100% Jo but you are def good to go if u can’t feel your leg it just means the pain killers are working keep jumping tho its all good fam”

  7. Doomers out in force in this thread. Joel will be back at some point. Maybe it’s not until the playoffs, but he’ll be back. This is not some devastating injury.
