[Bryan Hoch] Aaron Boone said that he isn’t sure if Jon Berti, acquired today from the Marlins, will start at third base tomorrow. It’ll depend on Berti’s travel.

Pretty wild that a player that we acquired one day before the start of the season could be our Opening Day starting 3rd baseman.

Goes to show that we literally had 0 infield depth or backups (with the injuries to DJ and Peraza).
If Cabrera (3B) or Volpe (SS) got injured or needed a day rest in the upcoming weeks, we would literally have no player to replace them. Pretty crazy.
I wasn’t expecting him to play tomorrow, but hopefully in the next few days.
With the implication being that he’d start if he makes it to Houston on time?
Do you think Berti even tries to get his deposit back for his apartment? 🙃
Let’s face facts you can’t choke these 4 games in Houston and if he’s the better fit than Waldo rn then anything it takes. I’m also all for stolen bases galore to catch pitchers sleeping early
