My “1994 Rangers” Box

I was moving some stuff around in storage this week and found my "1994 Rangers" box. What's in the box? What's in the box!?

  • VHS tapes of every Rangers playoff game, from crushing the Isles 6-0, 6-0 in the first two games to both the ESPN and MSG broadcasts of Rangers/Canucks game 7. Also, a few other random games from that season, a tape of ESPN playoff highlights, and the All-Star skills competition at MSG and ASG (that Richter was the MVP for).

  • the "official" highlight VHS

  • the DVD set with the complete broadcasts of the entire Devils and Canucks series (ESPN broadcasts). It was part of some "Original Six" series (no idea) — I found the set in a Best Buy in the mid 2000's and couldn't believe it existed.

  • various programs and magazines from the playoff run, including some Sports Illustrated covers and other one-shots. (I believe the program in the upper right is from the night the raised the banner.)

  • the 1994 hat all of us had. (I have the matching white t-shirt as well, but in a different box)

  • the mini replica 1994 banner they gave out the night they raised the banner in 1995 (stupid strike shortened season). I love this thing SO MUCH.

  • (not pictured) so many newspaper covers from the run, including Messier's guarantee and covers from the win and parade

  • other crap like bumper stickers, ticket stubs, box scores and game notes they gave out with programs at games (I went to a few of the playoff games that year, but not all).

Am I the only nerd who kept stuff like this? It all just sits in one box (except for the banner, which I usually have sitting near my desk), so it's not like it eats up a ton of space.

good times 😃
