  1. It was a shitty call, but I was too busy losing my shit with my roommate and jumping in the university fountain to notice

  2. I know Joe is paid to be impartial but I remember he was so flat on that call it seemed like he legit was rooting against the cards to win, even though of course he isn’t.

  3. Regardless, I love Joe. I hope he gets the itch to commentate baseball again. He’s the voice of the World Series in my mind.

  4. I don’t know about all of that, but I do know that the number 50 should be retired in St. Louis, sports-wide.

  5. Worst st louis area sports call, superbowl XXXIV, rams defeat titans:.

“The Gateway to the West is now the gateway to the BEST Football team in the NFL.”

    So awful.

  6. I always felt that he did similar in 2011. His call wasn’t great but not full of emotion. You could almost tell he was trying to purposefully not be biased for STL.

  7. ha! I had said for years that while it’s definitely not any big deal, Buck’s 2006 WS call was suspect.

people disagreed HARD, insisting that I (and everyone else making the claim) was full of shit, that the call was perfectly neutral, etc etc etc. I remember a “friend” on Facebook playing Mr. Righteous, who more or less told me i was being a dumb asshole.

w e l p ! guess those folks can EAT IT. I hope that “friend” sees this, although there is a 0% chance he’d ever recognise the fact that he was indeed wrong. turns out Buck DID undersell the call, and my smarmy “friend” _doesn’t_ know every damn thing, after all. you owe me an apology, you smug fuck.

(I am still likely full of shit, _but not on this one._)
