RHP Zak Kent traded to Guardians

The Texas Rangers today announced that the club has traded RHP Zak Kent to the Cleveland Guardians in exchange for international bonus pool money.

With this move, Texas now has 39 players on its 40-man roster, along with RHP's Carson Coleman and Jacob deGrom on the 60-day IL.

  1. Don’t forget about Carson Coleman. Our pitching staff is gonna be so crowded in August lol

  2. His two seam and slider have upper tier movement profiles but, and stop me if you’ve heard this before, the Rangers could never figure out how to get him to command his pitches. One year they’ll develop a SP, not this year but one year.

  3. Liked him, but we’re going to be in the weird position of likely having a mid season roster crunch. That bonus pool money could be big.

  4. Because our starting pitching depth was *too* good, obviously.

    Hope our guys get healthy.

Was a big fan of Kent though. Hope he eventually gets his chance.

  5. Kent will be great for the Guardians at some point because every pitcher who suits up for them is. Combine their ability to develop pitching and the Rangers’ to develop hitting, and you would rule the world!
