  1. I went to the Sens game for the first game in over a year.

    I ain’t coming back

  2. What we need right now is stability. It’s important that these young guys finish just outside a playoff spot year after year. Going to the playoffs at this point could tire them out and stunt their development. We need to keep doing the same thing to get the same results.

  3. It’s because Donny was extended on a new contract that hasn’t even started yet and our owner has become a real cheap ass when it comes to the Sabres.

Terry gets sold on charismatic people see Rex Ryan and Ralph Krueger, then gets burned when they suck. He’s sick of paying someone to not work for the team any more.

  4. I got the impression that he meant at this very moment because he continued on to talk about his long-term future.

  5. How can you possibly preach patience at this point? It’s been 13 years. Granato is one of the longest tenured coaches in the league and has accomplished *nothing.* He’s been granted a leash he wouldn’t have gotten at any other NHL team and now they wanna give him even more leash? Because the team was almost kind of good *last* season? This team can just fuck off

  6. Perhaps if Terry can get a bunch more millions from NYS taxpayers they can get in the playoffs

  7. Not of the mind reads to me that it’s not even occurring to them that a coaching change could help.

  8. “At this time” doing a lot of work in that.

Does that mean they aren’t thinking right now about making a change in general? Or aren’t thinking about making a change effective immediately?

Nine games left, longshot for the playoffs, so no point in doing it now. Get to the end of the season and then figure it out.

Not that I have confidence in what they’ll do this summer.

  9. We need to end the drought. The longer it keeps going the worse and worse Buffalo as a FA destination is… and it’s already bad. But look at the Bills, you need to just get in the playoffs. Get the monkey off your back then you can retool for deep playoff runs.

Lindy Ruff will break the playoff drought. He may not be the answer to win a cup but he will get us there.

  10. I like the Canucks too – and, the previous 10 years over there – *was exactly the same as this shit here!*

    – Idiot owner, constantly pinching pennies.
    – No vision whatsoever.
    – No long-term plan whatsoever.
    – Everything is the fan’s fault! [No shit, Vancouver spent *years* blaming the fans too! Idiot owner, idiot management, and a team that’s given-up, yet it’s the fan’s fault every time!!!]
    – A coach that let young players get away with murder.
    – Prima Donnas everywhere.
    – Fear of making *any* changes (when it’s been clear for years that the status quo isn’t working).

It wasn’t until they fired everyone, brought in a much larger team of people who knew what their jobs were, brought in a tough coach, brought in a bunch of expert-level coaches to teach other areas of the game, etc… that anything changed.

Oh yeah, and the biggest one: the new management didn’t brown-nose the awful owner! Ownership’s meddling seemed to stop almost overnight.

None of these changes affected the fans – yet, what do you know, it actually worked! It wasn’t the fans at all! It wasn’t even the players (although getting rid of the bad apples helped). It was ownership, coaching and management that was the reason the team was god-awful for a decade.

    Ownership, coaching and management.

    Not the fans.

EDIT: Vancouver spent a decade refusing to admit that they were wrong. They kept doubling-down, arrogantly. And it kept failing. Over and over and over again. Management/ownership would never admit that they were wrong. They would never change tactics. It wasn’t until *that* changed – it wasn’t until they admitted that their whole strategy, their whole approach, was wrong – that anything changed for the better.

That’s the *exact* problem here. They won’t admit that they are wrong. They won’t see what’s in front of their faces. And they won’t change.

    It’s our fault, not theirs.

  11. I’m certainly not of a mind at this time to spend any of my time/money watching this team or buying merchandise.

  12. The issue goes deeper than the coach. Yes Granato sucks as HC and clearly doesn’t implement an effective system. But, changing the coach to say, Seth Appert will be more of the same. This team management needs to be gutted and started fresh. Top to bottom, management, coaches and scouts. Keep the core players and try to get them a competent coaching team.
One thing for certain needs to happen regarding the players. Jeff Skinner needs to be bought out immediately. He is a big part of the shit mentality on this team. Get rid of Greenway also.
