  1. Not sure why my post didn’t include this but, Aho is:

    1.) a center
2.) on pace for 92 points
    3.) 54% in the dot
4.) averaging 1:44 SH TOI per game
    5.) has a 59.8% Fenwick For
    6.) on a team 2nd in GAA

All signs point to him being a finalist. I haven’t checked if anyone else in the league is putting up similar numbers, but Aho is putting together a Bergeron/Kopitar like season.

  2. I would totally agree but Jordan Staal is already the betting favorite from the Hurricanes to have a chance to get the award and most hockey writers have him listed in the top 5 as they track it.

I understand why Staal is listed because his line is normally taking the top guys on each night. The guy is slow but sure can play elite control/defensive hockey.

  3. NHL awards are 49% stats and 51% popularity contest. If he’s not a finalist this year, I’m sure he will be one in the future.

  4. Should be at least in the conversation, but the canes are a small market team so he probably won’t be in the conversation until he strings multiple seasons in a row that make him impossible to ignore.

Either way, who really cares if he wins the Selke. There’s only one trophy that actually matters and the Selke ain’t it

  5. Well there’s a ton of players that will get more looks now that Bergeron has retired. I like Aho and Kopitar for this year.
