Yankees vs. Astros Game Highlights (3/29/24) | MLB Highlights

No team in the American League has won more games over the last seven years than the Houston Astros. The Yankees hope to get to that kind of level in a match up here tonight. That is pretty juicy christian javier to the rubber for the Astros looking for a bounce back season.

His, er, a nearly doubled year over year from 22 to 20 three was zero for four with the walk. A generous Torres registers his displeasure. Here’s juan Soto who starred in his first game as a Yankee and Soto goes the other way for a base, hit his bat but it’s a

Single for Soto and that will bring up. Judge doesn’t matter the pitcher. This is just not been a good matchup for judge in his career and he is zero for 12 all time against javier. 13, 2 Ks for javier two down in the first. Here is Rizzo Pops one up in the

Alex Bregman in front of third, makes the catch one hit allowed by Javier. The Astros coming. Carlos Rodon takes the mound for the Yankees. Altuve to lead things off. He has been a Yankee killer throughout his career. Altuve snacks 1 to 1 hop off the wall and over the head of Alex

The second standing up to lead things off for the Astros. So Altuve in scoring position with nobody out and the batter is Jordan Alvarez. Alvarez grounds it right side to his right. The second baseman torres picks it up, throws to first for the first out. Altuve goes to third.

That’s Kyle Tucker one for four with a walk and a run scored yesterday. Gets a whiff there. Tucker down strikes Bregman one for five yesterday and Bregman in the air to center will stay up. It will, it will get down. Astros take the lead on an RB I single for Alex Bregman.

Alex Bedu thought he could track it down laid out, couldn’t come up with it. One. Houston here’s jose Abreu. Abreu in the air to center judge tracks this down and ends the inning but the Astros have taken a one nothing lead. A 123 inning for Christian Javier Yankees down 123 end of

An inning and a half one. Houston it’s a four pitch walk to mccormick to start the second Astros have gotten the leadoff man on in each of the first two innings. Diaz at the play three for four with an RB I yesterday, all three of his hits yesterday to

The opposite field and it’s popped up near the roof way up there but easy play for Torres for the first out now It’s Jeremy Pena’s turn Pena in the air to right tailing towards the corner long way to go for SOTO but he reels it in for out. Number two.

So two outs mccormick still at first base for Jake Myers runner takes off throw on one hop to second, not in time. And mccormick has his first stolen base of the year and it’s ball four and that brings up altuve altuve to left and it stays up this time for Verdugo

And the Astros leave to stranded Rodon a little frustrated. He’s having a grind out there. Houston with a 10 lead Cabrera at second, the run and soto at first the go ahead run and here is the judge popped up a mile high. That one nearly did scrape the roof.

Jeremy Pena able to locate it and make the catch and the Yankees strand two in the third. And as the Yankees were taking the field defensively, soto appeared to be in some discomfort and immediately the Yankee manager aaron Boone along with team trainer out, take a look at he’s seen he’s fine and

It looks like he’s gonna be ok and stay in the game. Here’s Alvarez in the air to left interesting route from Verdugo. Certainly got crossed up on the action off the bat from Yordan Alvarez manages to track it down. One tucker struck out his last time up. The Astros have put together

Some good swings good at bats against Rodon, the lefty and Tucker pokes it in the air shallow left and Verdugo dives. Did he come up with it? No. So Tucker reaches second time that Verdugo has laid out for a ball tonight that he hasn’t been able to catch Bregman an RB I

Single yesterday. This is his last day being in the twenties. He’ll be 30 years old tomorrow. Payoff. Pitch runner takes off all four upstairs and that puts two men on with one out for jose Abreu. Both runners take off pitch upstairs throw to second, not in time and a double steal to give

The Astros two men in scoring position with one away swing and a miss strike three, a big one as Abreu is retired to bring up mccormick, a 325 hitter against lefties last year and mccormick strikes out on three pitches. Rodon pitches his way in and out of trouble in the third, a 123

Innings for javier Porter retired by Christian javier. We go to the bottom of the fourth at a bar Castro lead one , nothing back to back singles for the Astros to start the bottom half of the fourth. And again, Rodon has to work with traffic. Myers walked his last time up

Big homer in yesterday’s game. Myers decides to take a hack and he lifts one to left and it’s out number one in the fourth one out now for Altuve hit the ball hard twice, a double his 401st double of his career. Altuve in the air to center

Judge a couple steps in to make the catch two gone two down. Now for Jordan Alvarez, big strikeout getting Alvarez and working out of another jam and the Astros have left seven on base. Still just one, nothing. So there are two and here is Cabrera pay off to cabrera and

He lifts one to left field, drifting back mccormick leaps and can’t make the catch. It’s off the wall and becomes a two out double for Oswaldo cabrera. His second hit of the night, he had four hits in the first two games. He’s the to run at second with

Two men out and here’s torres Torres strikes out six ks for the new pitcher is right handed , hard throw, Nick birdie. And when he throws this pitch, it will be the first pitch he’s thrown in the big league since 20 20 to Alex Bregman with one

Out, no one on bottom of the fifth, all four to be that base runners. Now in every inning, here’s Jose , a zero for two, a high fly to me. Love. There is Verdugo to make the catch two out and Bregman still at first for Chas mccormick 12

Pitch swing and a miss strike three and birdie retires mccormick to end the fifth to see SOTO is ok. I mean we saw a little bit of a scare. He has two hits and third inning was checked out as he was heading out to his position. It gives you an idea of what

Type of hitter soto is everybody else right now? Struggling get Javier. So two for two, one tailing towards the seats and will stay in play for Bregman. And that is out. Number one. No wonder out here is Judge. Judge pops this up shallow center long way to go for Myers.

Pena calls him off. That makes the catch. Now here is today’s clean up hitter that’s Anthony rizzo upstairs ball four and he works a two out walk and that is the first walk given up by Javier. John Carlo has flied out and struck out Stanton lines one to center in the air.

Myers with no trouble and Christian Javier putting together quite the performance here tonight in Houston back to back walk and the Yankees are set up with two on and one out here in the seventh with cabrera coming up, swings in Scott’s favor as this is punched to left a base hit for Cabrera.

Here comes the tying run and the Yankees level the score in the seventh on an RB I single from Oswaldo cabrera. There’s Glabra Torres with 1st and 2nd 1 out counts. Torres had no way of getting out of the way. The Astros have seen enough as joe Bota takes the ball out of

The hand of Taylor Scott’s big moment here soto at the plate bases loaded or he could take ball four and do it that way. Fonterra walks in a run and the Yankees have taken the lead in the seventh and this is what Yankee fans want to see.

You want to go from one up to aaron Judge, judge two hopper to short. There’s one, there’s two and the Astros limit the damage for the Yankees taking advantage of a couple of walks and a hit batsman. So there is the tying run at first with one man out that

Brings up the other big left hand hitter payoff pitch. Tucker serves it to left down for a base hit. Alvarez stops at second. The Astros have two on with one out in the seventh and now it’s Bregman turn Bregman in the and talks a sliding grab to Rob

Bregman of a base hits and already in back to back games, we’re seeing juan Soto make an impact defensively 6 ft three. Lefty Caleb Ferguson in the ballgame. Now for New York, he’ll face jose Abreu with men on 1st and 2nd in New York leading 2 to 1.

Abreu lifts one to center judge to his left makes the catch and the Astros strand two, we are through seven in Houston and New York has two men on with one out for Anthony Volpe Volpi ground ball coming in is Pena flip to second, gets away from altuve

And that will bring home a run. What a strange play to unfold for the Astros Jerry Pina is a solid defensive shortstop and now austin Wells lays down a bunt off the mound to feel Mossy and he throws it away in the right field Verdugo to score and

The Astros defense are having a meltdown here in the eighth for Osvaldo Cabrera. Ground ball base hits for Cabrera that will plate two and it’s unraveled for the Astros in the eighth. The Yankees have a 61 lead. Giancarlo Stanton stands in zero for four tonight. A couple of strikeouts. Couple of flyouts.

Oh boy, Stanton Cranks one deep left. Jean Carlo hit one over the middle. Alcove up into the crowd. Jean Carlo. No Stallo. Hey Homers to left and the Yankees take a 71 lead. So altuve is on, here’s Jordan Alvarez zero for three with a walk ground ball to third

Cabrera to second for one. A high throw winds up staying in play and Rizzo makes the tag and they call him out. Jordan Alvarez called out after he rounds first and kyle Tucker flies out to center that does it. The Yankees win 7 to 1 and a game that turned around late for

The second night in a row for the Yankees.

  1. Thank you MLB for making sure I couldn't watch this game! Love how I have to get 3 streaming services as well as a TV subscription to get all of the games! Doing a great job as always!

  2. This is the Yankees we’ve been waiting to see! Dating back to last season, this is now the 5th win in a row for the Yankees not only against the Astros but IN Houston. Hopefully they can keep this up.

  3. Great start out of Javier. As I feared though, the middle-reliever section of our bullpen may be an issue this year. 7-8-9 we’re good, but we need more proven/consistent middle relievers. Especially if Montero can’t return to his 2022 form.

  4. This team is only going to get better when judge gets going they're going to be super dangerous and I'm hoping Stanton also gets hot then this is going to be the most feared lineup in baseball in my opinion with Rizzo in the middle of both of those guys. Cabrera has been the hero the last two games and I'm loving his game overall He's a great overall player. The Yankees need to open up the damn wallet and just pay Soto now before he leaves mid season.
