Pretty sure our 1st Round pick this coming draft will have done the least.
KB was good, then his mom died and he ate every quarter dark, double rice and large tea he could get his hands on…
I would have said Vernon butler but I didn’t really think about him that much
Potentials:
* Kerry Collins – Quit in the middle of the season. Imagine if Bryce Young just quit the Panthers next year four games in but he was also our first draft pick of all-time. That’s what Kerry did. * Rae Carruth – He had a slight legal issue that kept him in prison for 19 years. * Jeff Otah – Could never stay healthy. * Kelvin Benjamin – Didn’t have that dawg in him. Replaced it with Bojangles. * Vernon Butler – This is probably the right answer since I don’t even remember him being on the team and [his stats](https://www.pro-football-reference.com/players/B/ButlVe00.htm) are terrible for a 1st round pick. He didn’t even start until his 4th year. His 5th year option was declined and then he signed elsewhere.
At least Benji had some moments. It’s gotta be Vernon Butler.
I think everyone is forgetting Jimmy Clausen. I almost said DeWayne Jarrett but he was a 2nd rounder. Butler isn’t far off tho
Bryce young
Jeff Otah
It’s KB.
Seeing a lot of Vernon Butler, but I don’t remember thinking “wow he is going to be so good” as much as “why did we draft Vernon Butler?”
Butler was drafted 30th overall and at the time we had Short and Lotulelei. Starting corners were Bradberry and Worley, which was more of a need than another DT.
Looking back at that they took the wrong DT. Chris Jones went 37, but if they’d have gone CB Xavien Howard was next off the board at 38.
The obvious answer is the 30 something year old Chris weinkee
KB is the easiest answer, but I’ll go a different route.
I thought Stat Lotulelei was gonna be a top DT in the NFL for years and years. He was really good as a rookie. But he really never became anything more than a good space eater and I think his rookie year ended up being his best year.
It’s weird he was a Top 15 pick and was projected to go really high in that draft, but is a complete after-thought on some of our most successful squads.
Kelvin was good, he just didn’t work hard enough to stay good
Benjamin at least had one and a half good seasons. Vernon Butler did absolutely fuck all.
