Randall Cunningham is a good high-ceiling comp for Jayden Daniels. At the combine, Randall measured 6’4”, 212 lbs. He had a great deep ball and was a fast upright runner with more of a slashing running style, as compared to Vick’s or Lamar’s jump-start suddenness. Check out his highlights

  1. Cunningham had an absolute cannon for an arm.

This isn’t really a good comp.

The modern NFL has also gotten bigger and faster.

  2. 6’4” 212 in 1985 was huge comparatively. The league has changed so much that frame is now considered a red flag. Especially when you don’t know how to slide lol

  3. I guess we should compare Drake Maye to Dan Marino then. Both 6’4. 224 with strong arms.

  4. I mean a 23 year old Lamar compared to Daniels is Lamar develop so much as runner and a passer and additionally had already won a MVP. Lamar Jackson runs is more of shiftier player who able avoid the tackle and juke out defenders. Daniel’s running style reminds more of a skinnier Anthony Richardson.

  5. Yeah but Randall didn’t have a conjoined twin on his elbow so this isn’t really a fair comparison.

  6. Randall was sacked 203 times in his first 4 seasons. Didn’t we just watch this movie?

  7. His best seasons were limited to Tecmo Super Bowl.

In real life he was injured a lot. His injuries got in the way of winning trophies.

  8. I don’t understand the love Cunningham gets honestly. He had 2 seasons with better than 2-1 TD to INT ratio. He led the league in fumbles as many times as he led the league in any passing category. He led the league in sacks 5 times and still holds the NFL record for sacked yards in a season.

  9. No bro bad comp because Cunningham had a far stronger arm and was A LOT faster than Daniels. Daniels also was 210 water weight. Cunningham retired at 217. I don’t think 217 is possible for Daniels. Daniels is maybe a better passer than Cunningham was

  10. That would be a damn dream. He wrecked the reskins on the regular then went to minny and wrecked people up there too. So damn talented

  11. Randall Cunningham is an absolutely overlooked and under appreciated QB in NFL history. Talented guy. Had exciting but rough early years but really fun to watch. Played in a rough era on and off the field. His second act was awesome. Probably would’ve gotten more love had his kicker, that had not missed one FG all season, made the kick that would have put them in the Super Bowl.

  12. Jayden’s 210 was a “eat as much as you can before your pro day” 210. There’s a reason why he didn’t get measured/weighed at the combine. And then it’s also the same reason why he ended up not running a 40. His added weight would of jacked his 40 time up. His playing weight in college was around 185 where as Cunningham actually played at 212. There’s no way in hell he put on over 20lbs of muscle before his pro day lmaoo

  13. Unlike Daniels, Randall could actually through the ball over the middle of the field.
