  1. I might get downvoted to oblivion, lol, but Schneider at this point is not an every day major league level at bat. Hes perfect for the role hes in right now. He has obvious weaknesses in his swings especially against RHP. He got off to a literal HOF hot start last year but it was pretty clear pitchers/teams adjusted (and started seeing more RHP) and he had an all time bad stretch.

The Jays presumably have more stats and scouting than we do and they clearly see a potential for September Schneider if he’s in the lineup everyday and probably want to build up his confidence and slowly start to expose him again

Edit: And no, John Schneider isn’t just making these calls by himself from gut feeling

  2. This was never going to be a popular move, and “journalists” like Chisholm love to shit on stuff like this.

But logically, this is the type of decision you expect the team to make. They are using a platoon with Schneider, because he has great numbers against lefties, and poor numbers against high heat particularly from rhps.He doesn’t provide good defence either. The choice to play IKF makes sense in that context, considering he does provide plus defence.

Schneider hitting a pitch he crushes normally doesn’t prove that the platoon needs to be abandonned.

  3. Say whatever you want about matchups, but benching the only guy who drove in a run during a three game series is bad optics for a team that is desperately lacking hitting right now

  4. I wonder if John even had a say in this or if it was another analytics call/fiasco?

  5. The coach is a moron and the front office needs to stop meddling with the on-field decisions.

  6. Nothing he does makes sense. Remember because of an algorithm in the playoffs he pulled Berrios and threw in Kikuchi, meanwhile Berrios was absolutely dealing?

    Good riddance to this fool.

  7. I say, let the kid hit until he proves he can’t. When he slumps for a full three weeks, then you (i.e. management) can pull him from the lineup and we’ll all keep our mouths shut.

Incidentally, I don’t think this kid has it in him to slump for three weeks, that’s my point.

  8. The entire bottom half of our lineup is just garbage offensively. It’d be fine platooning Biggio/Schneider/IKF if we actually had a solid group of hitters 1-7, but we don’t. We have 4 good hitters and the rest are a crapshoot roll of the dice.

No one to blame but management for constructing this mess.

  9. Schneider’s “hot bat” lol. He fortunately got a super rare hanging slider from lefty Hader and credit to him, he did exacty what he was supposed to do with it. I wouldn’t say he was hot. If he had 3 hits Tuesday then I’d say he should be in there Wednesday, but it was just the one swing. Feel like there’s nothing wrong with sticking to the platoon advantage against a tough righty, at least to start the game.
