If we all stop talking about, clicking on, responding to in any way, etc. anything from Brendan Kelly, maybe he’ll finally get canned and the world will become a better place.
I’m all for honesty in journalism and not giving the rose-colored-glass approach to everything about our favorite team, but this dude is miserable. He’s relentlessly pessimistic without even a shred of charm, wit, integrity, or actual insight. His articles feel like someone handed a keyboard to an angry 12-year-old.
That headline screams “I have nothing intelligent to write about so here’s some clickbait bullshit”
Like, Caufield went from .78pt/game to .75pt/game (wHaT a DrOp /s) while improving other parts of his game (playmaking, defensive coverage among other thing). But for a talentless hack like Brendan Kelly, that’s enough to write a “torchon” like we said in French.
Do they ignore the fact he got surgery on his shoulder??

People like this will eating crow 3 meals a day when Caufield shows up next season with his accuracy back on point. It’s going to be nice having a 2-way PPG player pushing 30-40 goals.
The last couple of weeks I’ve been listening a lot to habs podcasts because I’m doing renovations and need some background noise. It’s baffling how all these podcasts(french/english) and even media all talk about the same thing and switch their opinions from one day to the other.
At some point it was about how Guhle wasn’t as good as predicted and maybe we could trade him during the summer(like what?). Then it was Caufield not performing, then Caufield being great again, then Caufield not performing. How the rebuilt is taking too much time and we’re becoming the Sabres(it’s literally been 2years).
All that to say that it really opened my eyes on how trash the media is and how they all say the stupidest stuff.
Like sure… I wish he scored more goals this season. But he’ll still likely surpass 60 points. If that’s a down season, I’m really looking forward to his good seasons!
It’s almost like his scoring took a hit due to improvement in his two way game, playmaking and my personal favourite, his physical game! Caufield is becoming an all around player in front of ouy eyes, and if that means less scoring, then so be it. I’d rather a guy who can rally 30, and do more than just shoot the puck, .
Cole is good, he’s gonna be better
56 points in a year where management knew he’d be suffering post surgery.. They’re nowhere near upset with goal Caufield
Even assuming this is how good he is, a 60 point winger is still going to be worth 7 mil when the cap is 100 million. But we know this isn’t Cole’s limit and he’s improved both his playmaking and defensive abilities.
Marty won two art ross’ and wasn’t even in the NHL at Cole’s age.

He’s an entertainment writer, with less hockey knowledge than 80% of any casual Habs fan you can find on any social media platform.
You can safely take the position opposite his and have 99.9% odds of ending up right.
He has the same points as last year in less games, and guess what….
Nick doesn’t have 31 is Cole doesn’t have those assists.
It’s a team game.
Coles improved aspects of his game significantly, playmaking, and even his strength- routinely see him able to pin his man in the defensive zone and bounce off hits offensively.
That said, something is going on with his shot. Seems like he can’t shoot and that’s his greatest gift. It is concerning…
The real loser in all of this is Mike Kelly, who is legitimately insightful, and I avoided his interviews on TSN for years accidentally conflating him with Brendan’s impossibly shitty takes.
The kid is coming off a shoulder surgery, but he has scored at every level his entire life. So dumb
Career highs this season in points, assists, blocked shots, hits, and a 3rd straight 20+ goal season. I don’t see an issue here at all.
I will be concerned next year if he only puts up 25 goals or less
Shoulder hurt or not he’s paid to score goals and he’s simply not scoring enough
He stopped talking about the Subban trade?
He just scored last game. Give him a break. Let him find his groove and he’ll score. Next year, hopefully, will be different for Caufield.
