Dang, that Dick Bremer interview hit me hard.

I turned the game on just as the third inning was starting. The interview they did w/Dick Bremer was really moving. He seemed to be holding back tears of his own for lots of it. A true statesman of the game & just seemingly all around good guy.

  1. It’s been a really really strange season without Dick. Provus is an exceptional replacement, but I just missed his voice. I hope he gets some time in the booth with Corey and Justin this year.

  2. yeah, he definitely seemed to still be going through it, and I’m sure not being in the booth for the home opener really drove it home, wish I could hug him lol

  3. I don’t really remember Bremer being the main PBP guy until Bert came around. I remember the color guys, like Harmon, Tommy John, George Frazier etc. The only PBP guys I remember were Ted Robinson and John Gordon when he used to switch between TV and radio for a year or two. How much of a main play-by-play guy was Dick before Bert came aboard? Did they used to have two announcers and no color guy, and Dick was second banana?

  4. How do you change your PA guy after you win a playoff games/series after 20 years or so

  5. If you all really want to get pissed off just think how dumb it was that they couldn’t have just cut back his games since this is the final year of Bally over whatever you want to call them retiring him/firing him after last season.

  6. Don’t get me wrong, I love Joe Mauer but I was so sad that he got a bigger pop for coming out to catch the first pitch than Dick got for throwing out the first pitch.

  7. Don’t get me wrong, I love Provus but it just isn’t the same without Dick.

  8. I had zero idea Bremer was no longer on the broadcast. What is the reason for this?

  9. Is there a video of all the Dick festivities? I was at the game but got there late and missed it all

  10. My favorite Bremer moment:

Dick Bremer: you had a nickname, isn’t that right.

    Bert Blyleven: yep, Captain Hook.

DB: I imagine that was in reference to your devastating curve ball.

BB: or someone saw me in the shower.

    DB: …

    BB: …

DB: I have never before now in my life wished for the Twins to ground into an inning ending double play.
