What do we think about the off-season *so far*

I saw this picture online today and now looking at the big picture we’ve made some big changes… some people are saying they like what they’re seeing. What are your thoughts?

I think it’s too early to tell since the offseason just started, but based on what we have going on now, wasn’t most of it inevitable? We had a lot of old guys that we needed to replace with young talent. Yes they were good, but in terms of our future, it was needed.

To be fair, we were missing 5 starting Defensive players towards the end of our run, most of which are on this list, so we’ve dealt with plenty adversity, now that we have an offseason to recoup, what are your predictions for the next season?

  1. Let’s be honest, we’ve gotten worse on both sides of the ball. Still a lot of time left in the offseason though so I’ll trust the process.

  2. Get ready for the roster to catch up with the coaching , and not in a good way… the last couple years we benefited from alot of the time being the better team on the field personnel wise…

  3. Is K J Hamler any good? I have heard the name but I know nothing about him

  4. We’re worse, but Josh keeps us competitive. Gotta hope guys step up.

Realistically, I think this is considered a whatever year and next offseason we will be aggressive.

  5. Honestly, the names make it seem a lot more drastic than it is… but based on the actual on field play of the names I don’t think we will be much worse off depending on what moves are to come… specifically at WR and Safety. Look at the moves we made after this point Last offseason: we added our starting Guard, TE, Defensive end, RB2 & RB3, and two key rotational DLine pieces in Lawson and Phillips…. It may seem like the roster is complete but if last offseason tells you anything aloooot can still happen. Based on the picks we have, and money coming 6/1… there could MULTIPLE roster altering moves

  6. There is only one way to feel about this. Diggs is the first loss on here you should care about and you should still be fine with it.

  7. I think we are still a playoff team.  If we upgrade at edge, S, and WR in the draft I think we are good.

  8. Defense:

I actually feel okay about D-Line if we draft someone in the first three rounds. Settle and Phillips weren’t good this year and Floyd was a ghost the second half of the season. Plus Von can’t get any worse.

LB’s will obviously be much better with Milano back.

That leaves safeties. On paper we got worse there but considering Poyer and Hyde’s decline last year, I could see similar impact from the new guys.

    Offense:

If we draft a WR early, I think our pass catchers will be better than last year. Samuel will be more impactful than Gabe, Kincaid should be a top 5 TE next year, and our early draft pick can absolutely match Diggs’ 2nd half production from last year.

O-Line might be a little bit worse but I’m interested in possible competition between La’el Collins and David Edwards at LG.

  9. really hope the general consensus among fans becomes that this is a throwaway year because the fanbase is insufferable on years when they have high expectations (see: loudly shouting for McDermott to be fired when we were 5-5 last season), so if the fans don’t expect much maybe we can all just enjoy some goddamn football for a year

  10. That’s four key members of the secondary gone. That’s why it’s a so important they draft some more bodies there.

  11. The one thing none of us can dispute is that it has been an eventful offseason for sure. The one with the most turnover in the McD era, which is sad b/c players like Hyde, Poyer, and Tre were cornerstones of this run to relevance.

I am choosing to trust the process, however. We are certainly worse on paper, there is no doubt about that. But we are cleaning up the cap now to give Josh a 2nd SB window and he’ll keep us viable as long as he’s here, including this year. We still have the draft to plug a lot of the holes, and we honestly needed to get younger anyway. Still optimistic about the future.

  12. I want a Super Bowl. We tried that roster. No Super Bowls. So we’re trying something else. I’m okay with this.

Will I miss a bunch of those guys? Heck yeah. But that’s the game.

  13. Correct me if im wrong but nothing has been announced for Micah Hyde yet has it? I know his wife wrote a thank you post to Bills Mafia but nothing official has happened yet

  14. I’m actually really happy about Trubisky, I am way more confident we can stay competitive with him vs Kyle Allen.

Curtis Samuel is a huge get too, definitely seems like one of those signings you don’t realize how huge it is until the season, like Floyd last year.

And for a…WR4? WR5? I think KJ Hamler is pretty legit. I’ve always liked him.

Team is set up for success in 2025, hard to say they’re better off this season than last talent-wise, but I do think health luck could outweigh the dead cap drag. Some pretty brutal injuries to top-5 guys these last couple years.

  15. Necessary disaster but the Draft will be where it gets better. Believe in Beane & Company

  16. Nicholas Morrow shouldn’t be in the NFL lol just letting yall know right now. He’s awful

  17. I think the loss that makes me the most mad is Dane Jackson. Our CB room was thin as it was, but without Dane we have almost no room for a CB to get hurt because the next option is Elam.

  18. Worse on paper according to name brands and past performance, but the entire point is that the roster had gotten too old and expensive.

With our young players that have opportunities to step forward, and draft class still to come, I’m still confident we will have a strong record this year.

  19. Give me one of the top 3 receivers in the draft and i am actually pretty good with it.

  20. It’s an exciting new team. I still think they can make the playoffs provided they draft well. It isn’t an “all-in” type of year and I love it.

  21. It’s painful, but we’ve kept the band together longer than most teams. Between age and cap management, it’s unavoidable.

But it’s sad nonetheless. For me, Tre the most.

The other two that stick out are Mitch and Po. Mitch was always insightful in post-game interviews which was a nice changeup from the coachspeak we normally get. I always felt Po brought a lot of intensity and a never die attitude to the team.

Diggs, he fought hard for us for many years. But relationships do end, sometimes nicer than others.

  22. I must have forgotten we lost Hyde AND Poyer. Dude, what the fuck is going on?

  23. Not sure what to think yet, I know they had to get younger and cheaper but damn seems like a massacre
