  1. Positives from today’s Cleveland baseball:

    #Needed that.

Cookie Carrasco takes the mound and pitches three strong innings, with the only issue in those three innings being the fact that it took 78 pitches. Final line of 3IP, 1H, 1R, 3BB, and 6K. Perhaps a *tad* bit of help for Cookie and the pen from the ~~blind man~~ umpire behind the plate.

Nothing like a 🍟 powered offense to take us to the promised land today, with Fry’s three run homer acting as our offense. The bats get 3 runs off of 7 hits and no walks, with Rocchio getting his fifth double of the year.

The fact that I can write a positive here of the bullpen is insane. Sandlin-Cade Smith-Gaddis-Barlow-Beede-Clase combine for 6IP, 1H, 0R, 4BB, 8K, and 2 HBP. So many baserunners and not a SINGLE run gets across… almost like we have some incredible defense… oh yeah!

There’s a number of things that could’ve broken the Twins today and their 11 LOB- ball and strike calling, the baseball gods giving us one after the Bieber news, but I think I’ll go with the best defensive player in baseball, Andres Gimenez. The combined effort of him and Rocchio effort today absolutely saved us the baseball game countless times, his bat looks like the 2022 bat, he’s just a beautiful man!

Two total hits. AND ELEVEN LEFT ON BASE. WHAT.

  2. It wasn’t pretty, but we got the job done.

Twins 0-23 with RISP this series, oof

  3. This game reminded me of game three of the 2016 ALCS. Bullpen carried us and it was scary at times

  4. Not the prettiest victory, but a W is a W. All alone atop the mighty AL Central!

  5. We finally get rewarded by being first in the division

Pitchers had a ball today despite all the free runners

    David Fry

    Defense

    Go Guards

  6. Best game that Vogt managed. He pushed every button correctly with the bullpen. If manages like this in the postseason watch out

  7. Twins fans thinking their team is good and my 4 year old thinking he’s Batman, the mentality is exactly the same

  8. It takes defense and a bullpen to get a dirty job done. Go Guardians!

  9. Narrator: There are three true outcomes between a pitcher and a hitter. The first is a strikeout-

    Twins: Say no more, fam

  10. Al and Jensen say beating the Yankees feels better than beating the Twins… gotta disagree

  11. IF Stick’s elbow isn’t shot then we have a legit rotation and haven’t really lost anything. Bieber was gone by the trade deadline no matter what so anything we got out of him was gravy. A rotation of

    1. Bibee

    2. Allen

    3. Williams

    4. Sticks

    5. Carrasco

Is pretty dang good. However, I’m fully anticipating Sticks getting TJ in the next week or so as this experiment ends so the question then becomes… who’s sliding into the rotation? 2025 is when our window is wide open so not too concerned about ‘24 but I am annoyed that Sticks put off TJ even though he needs it.

  12. Tight roped our way right through that one. Amazing after all those walks they never made us pay. We take those.

  13. What happened to Twins at bats 🤨 what a weird game. I really hope McKenzie has some control and can give our bullpen some rest

  14. Great win. Cookie and the Pen held them to 1 run. 3rd straight series win to open the season.

  15. Clase definitely isn’t as dominant as he used to be, but at least he’s getting outs this year instead of having meltdowns when one guy gets on

  16. Waking up to the Shane Bieber news was devastating. Glad the boys got the W!

    Go Guards

  17. Feels like an important win – I am sure the clubhouse was upset about Shane, and to battle for the 3 – 1 win against the Twins is huge.

  18. I don’t if its only me, but most of the pen’s baserunner are after pitching back again from 1 inning of work already. Especially today. I know Cookie gave only 3 innings but feels like burning pitches without getting outs and ending up bringing the next pitcher anyways.
