Did the team forget that he said he will retire if they stop rebuilding( the time he said it, the were in a 10 year run of losing). The team didn’t listen so he quit, and played overseas. It looks like they did this because of his tenure with the team, not because he “won” with them.

I was so happy for Marc Gasol when he finally won a ring in Toronto. He was one of those NBA players, in my opinion, who earned and deserved a ring for how well he played during his career. I knew the only way he could have gotten a ring is by playing for a contender. I knew Memphis would never have enough to get through the West. All of those playoff runs only saw the Grizzlies get to 1 Western conference final. Just shows how tough the West has been for the last 23 years.
