Posting a random Steeler every day until kickoff or I forget – Day 37: Baron Batch

RB Baron Batch (2011-2012)

Baron Batch was selected in the seventh round of the 2011 NFL Draft by the Steelers out of Texas Tech after a productive college career. He was expected to compete with Mewelde Moore for the third-down back spot, but tore his ACL during training camp, taking him out for the season. He returned the next season, being active for 12 games and gaining 49 yards on 12 attempts, and 1 TD. In August of 2013, he was cut by the Steelers and retired from professional football.

During his time rehabbing his ACL injury, Batch honed in on his artistic skills, and opened Studio AM about a year after his retirement. His colorful POP-X genre of art, mixing pop are and expressionism, has become very recognizable in Pittsburgh, and he became known for doing “Art Drops” around the city where he leaves paintings around the city, posting them online for people to find. He opened a new location, Studio AM at the Southside Works where he hosts classes and open studio days.
