  1. I love this. We need more of this kind of frank, big-picture analysis of the situation from all angles so people get used to seeing it and hopefully try to grasp the complexity of the situation. It’s not about the pitch count or the results of the 7 innings, it’s about what the 8th inning looks like, and the rest of the game. Some people just want to hate Scott. (And I say this as a former Scott-disliker.)

  2. Are we really questioning this move? It definitely seemed like the right move in the moment. I think the only reason anyone is second-guessing it is because the bullpen almost blew the lead. Ya his pitch count was low. But this is his second start in his second season and this is his first full season in the majors. Let’s not add to the list of pitchers getting hurt. Baseball is a marathon.

  3. Muh matchups

But seriously, I think pitch count is a little arbitrary, but I get the impression that Scott is desperate to get out of the slump (whether that’s for genuine wanting to win or self preservation) that he’s not even willing to risk the brewers with already 3 looks at Bryce.

Just seems like you’re not giving Bryce a chance to go deep into a game and give him some confidence especially early in the season just to try to distract from legitimate criticism.
