Bears finish second in offseason additions

From the article:

"The Bears, according to the model, finished with the second-best offseason behind the Falcons. There's still the 2024 NFL Draft to go, where the Bears will inarguably make their most significant addition in Caleb Williams. But thus far, they're crushing it."

  1. Looking ahead to next year our only notable free agents are Teven Jenkins, Keenan Allen, Khalil Herbert, and Coleman Shelton.

Teven should be a priority to re-sign if he stays healthy but all of the others are pretty replaceable, Keenan is great but if we draft Odunze we don’t really need him all that much.

My point is we’re set to compete in 2025 if Caleb pans out

  2. Kurt Cousins will never do anything for the Falcons, but fail when they need him the most.

  3. I was a bit underwhelmed at first, but then came to realize its probably a good thing that Poles didnt go on a spending spree. Im still not certain our center position is fixed, but we’ll have to wait and see how Shelton and Bates look.

If nothing else, I think Bates is quality guard depth for a team that has struggled to have both guards healthy at the same time.

I like the other major additions as well. Swift I think can be our primary pass catching back, Everett is a huge upgrade over Tonyan, and Keenan Allen gives us a huge boost to our WR room.

  4. Doesn’t matter, every team has their own situation. Second this year is some other position some other year. Bears could have gone away with more, and they didn’t. Not good.
