  1. There being an unreported serious injury could really change things. That’ll upgrade the charge to a felony and tack on aggravated assault.

  2. Avoidable dumb actions that could have happened to most of us when we were his age. Hopefully he will learn from this, and do something positive in his life that far outweighs this one event. Hard to be wealthy and young, lord knows I would have screwed it up big time, but lucky for me we were poor as dirt so I had to race guys with a $700 very used El Camino.

  3. >Rice, 23, was charged with one count of aggravated assault, one count of collision involving serious bodily injury and six counts of collision involving injury.

~~Any TX lawyers know if the leaving the scene bits would be tied up in this? Or does this mean they aren’t going forward with those charges?~~

~~We’d worked out earlier that serious bodily injury + leaving the scene is felony level stuff; though perhaps the above charges are already in that tier?~~

    **EDIT** Doin my own googlin:

    >Sec. 22.02. AGGRAVATED ASSAULT. (a) A person commits an offense if the person commits assault as defined in >Sec. 22.01 and the person:

    >(1) causes serious bodily injury to another, including the person’s spouse; or

    >(2) uses or exhibits a deadly weapon during the commission of the assault.

    >(b) An offense under this section is a felony of the second degree

So at least one 2nd degree felony charge, that’s bad.

Per TRANSP § 550.021 it looks like the collision causing serious bodily injury is the charge that’s tied to him having left the scene, that’s what we’d deduced earlier to be a third degree felony. The other six counts seem to be between misdemeanor and felony and could go either way?

That’s serious shit Rashee. May justice prevail for all involved.

  4. Cue the overreach of a fast WR from Georgia who will frustrate with his mediocre play mixed with good ones capped off with a Super Bowl winning catch.

  5. Warrants aren’t as scary as everyone makes them out to be. Once the district attorney charges you, a warrant is issued. Then you go turn yourself in. Then you are arraigned. And they decide what’s going to happen to you. Plea deal, diversionary program, trial, etc.

  6. 4 game suspension minimum. I hope that’s all he gets.

I’m also concerned for him just as person. I’m sure this is all pretty traumatic for him. I’m sure he knows how badly this hurts his team. I hope he can bounce back from this, and all of that not affecting him too much.

  7. The Agg Assault is bait to get him to plea to Accident Involving SBI charge. Then the MISD get taken into consideration and he gets probation.

Goodell gonna give him a year off.

  8. It just confirms what we already knew.

Mistakes were made and he is very lucky nobody was seriously hurt.

I’m not going to condemn the man, for one bad night. Hopefully he has learned from this experience going forward.

Now we wait and see what the NFL does to him. I can’t see him getting more than 4 games for this.

  9. Dumb shit. Let’s not justify violence because we really want him this upcoming season. He deserves legal repercussion just like any other person

  10. I’m confused on the substantial bodily harm part. I thought there was only one hospitalization and it was a minor injury. Did I miss new information that came out?

  11. Not really big news. You have to have a warrant to be arrested on charges if you weren’t arrested right when it happened. He obviously broke several laws.

  12. “Two of the crash victims were taken to the hospital. WFAA spoke with Tennessee Walker, a lawyer representing a husband and wife who were victims in the crash. Walker told WFAA the couple is “angry,” and the husband had to crawl out of the back window in the wake of this collision. His wife was pulled out of the driver’s seat by first responders.
“She had a very big laceration on her left eye. She’s got several stitches that were put in at the hospital, and the eye socket is completely swollen and black and blue.”

So two people were injured as a result of the crash. That’s where the assault charges are coming from. This isn’t the type of warrant where the US Marshall’s service is out hunting for him. He had the opportunity to turn himself in.

  13. His team has been expecting this, and will have him turn himself in as gesture of goodwill.

  14. Time to pull this one out….. again.

If you are a young person with a bright and financially lucrative future I can be hired for a nominal fee. I will follow you around with a air horn, pepper spray and a taser. If you start to do something that’s going to jeopardize your future, I will blow the air horn in your ear. If you continue anyway I will pepper spray your face. If you are so stubborn that neither of those deter you from your self induced stupidity it’s taser time.

Send me a message and we’ll discuss my terms.

  15. Having an arrest warrant issued just means that charges are in the process of being filed, it doesn’t mean he’s fleeing being arrested or trying to evade law enforcement. Most likely, his attorneys have already been in contact with police and determined a date and time he will turn himself in willingly before the news about the arrest warrant even got out.

  16. Bruh we’re really gonna have a rookie Welsh rugby player as our #1 target aren’t we
