  1. I agree with their conclusion in here: Fashioning a DH platoon around Belt is exactly the kind of “prior Mets” thinking that it’s good that we’re hopefully moving away from. Signing an everyday-caliber DH option in JDM allows the Mets much more roster flexibility and creates fewer in-game strategic bottlenecks compared to dedicating a pair of roster spots just to the DH position.

  2. Surprised no one’s bitten on Belt. I’m fine with the dreaded DH platoon approach as long as the guys hit enough to make it work.

    More than fine with JD though, assuming he actually exists and plays this year.

  3. I mean let’s be fair. This team could probably use Belt too. Really who is playing first base when Pete needs a day. I actually would completely understand signing Belt too.

  4. The contract was based almost “entirely on incentives”. This was the right way to do it . He didn’t take it. Mets moved on. This was the proper move by Stearns.

  5. Technically I’d like Belt over DJ in a bench role but I don’t really care either way
