  1. Draft a starting RT that can be an upgrade over Mckivitz. Centers are always hard to find, so a good young one that can take over for Brendel down the line. Feliciano is a one year stop-gap so we need to draft a potential replacement too.

  2. At least 2. Hopefully 4. 3 would start and 1 would be trents eventual replacement. Wouldn’t bother me if they spent the entire draft capital on o linemen.

Give our OPOY and young superstar qb shots at bring hall of farmers instead of limited them with a terrible o line.

  3. The best way to address a position of need is with someone you drafted 1-2 years ago.

You can’t rely on rookies to fill immediate holes right away. Most rookies need time to get stronger, refine their technique, adapt to the speed of the NFL, build chemistry with the guys around them, and learn the playbook. Every so often you get a guy like Nick Bosa who is an all pro on day 1, but that’s rare. We’re probably not going to find a Nick Bosa-level O-lineman at 31.

We have Trent Williams who is a hall of famer, but might retire after this year. Aaron Banks is solid but is a free agent after this season. Same with Felliciano. Brendel, Burford, and McKivitz are backup quality. Ideally none of those dudes see the field.

We’re in a bad spot, and imo we’re in this spot because we’ve neglected O-line in the draft since Lynch/Shanahan got here.

    * We’ve never drafted a center (reminder: we drafted a punter and a kicker)

    * We’ve spent 2 top 100 picks on O-line in 7 years which is probably one of the lowest numbers the league

    * We’ve spent 12% of our total draft capital on O-line since 2017. For context, we’ve spent 42% on D-line. We spent 14% of our total draft capital on the Trey Lance trade up

For some reason we have not prioritized O-line in the draft and it’s the reason why our O-line is in the position it is in right now. I don’t think we can save it in one year without a tremendous amount of luck.

I think the best course of action is a year-over-year emphasis on the O-line in the draft starting now. Doesn’t need to be all 1st rounders. Could be a 1st rounder this year, 3rd rounder next year, 2nd the year after. Do it in a way that fits in to your overall talent acquisition strategy, but our O-line needs a complete overhaul. Our current talent acquisition strategy at O-line isn’t going to cut it.

  4. If we could draft 5 OLinemen I’d be up for it.
We need to draft at least 3 this year…if we don’t….I will stop taking Shanahan and Lynch seriously.

Tired of always harping about this OL year in year out.. if we don’t win next  year.. Shanahan better be on the hot seat the year after

  5. I think they draft 2. Ideally one who can compete at right guard/right tackle this year and one developmental player. With Trent probably retiring in the next 2 seasons, Banks contract up after this season, and Burford being average at best hopefully they can get someone in the pipeline so next offseason they aren’t as desperate.

  6. I’m hoping the rumors of trading up to the teens is for Fashaunu or Fuaga, the 2 hybrid OT / G. Best 2 out of McKivitz, Feliciano, and the rookie shores up the right side.
