Cubs fans only want one thing

  1. I used to watch 100-ish games a year now I mainly do radio only and catch up on the highlights later. I guess they’re getting more revenue in the short term but I can’t help but wonder how many potential new fans we’ve lost out on who can’t be bothered to subscribe to Marquee or MLB TV.

  2. It’s fucking dumb that Cubs games are anywhere but WGN, let alone on an assload of different payment-required outlets.

  3. Not gonna lie I really don’t get why everyone hates Marquee. Maybe it’s because I don’t live in the Chicago broadcast area. I miss WGN too because it’s the sole reason I could watch games growing up in Omaha but I don’t see a reason why Marquee is so hated on.

  4. WGN, Harry Carey and 1:20 starts are responsible for creating generations of Cub fans. Good times coming home from school, throwing on WGN and catching the game in the middle innings. An inning or two later, Harry would return to the booth. By that time, my grandfather would get home from work and we’d watch the last few innings together.

Cubs baseball is not the same since it left WGN. Hard to believe the Cubs couldnt find a way to allow WGN to broadcast a game each week.

  5. Rose-tinted glasses. Outside Chicagoland, games were often difficult, if not impossible to find, and sometimes not airing in HD. Extremely dated graphics and low investment in the product. Good riddance.

  6. It’s wild I was at 3 different bars in west town tonight and not a single one had the cubs game on but all had the hawks on at least 1 screen
