Calvin Ridley will cost $92M over the next 4 years through his age 33 season. Devonta Smith will cost $72M over the next 4 years through his age 29 season.

That is actually pretty hilarious. Devonta Smith is much better than him IMO. I can’t wait to see how much Smith explodes this year. I have a feeling and it’s just a feeling that he might hit 1500 yards. Would anyone really be surprised? I wouldn’t.

This deal is actually so damn good. Been a pretty decent offseason so far.
Smith should cost around $91.5M over the next 5 seasons. Minimum this year, then $15.5M option, then the $75M deal.
The extension includes ~$15 for exercising the 5th year option, and ~$75 for the three year extension, so its $90M for the 4 years from ’25-’28 (not including this year on his rookie contract). So if you are calculating ’24-’27, it would be much less (maybe that’s the $72M you are referencing?) than ’25-’28.
Great deal, don’t break the teams budget but Smith gets his bag.
Doesn’t really make sense to use a rookie contract year in the comparison.
And the cap space will only increase too!!!
There’s 3 ways of getting good receivers that are finishing their rookie deals. You either need to draft them and extend them, trade a high draft pick for one and then extend them, or overpay in free agency. There’s a reason why no star wide receivers ever make it to free agency anymore. Smith would have made more if he had a good year and went to FA, but this way he gets his money a year earlier without the risk of playing this year on a 1 year deal.
Of course the team that didn’t pay AJ Brown are the ones that ended up screwing up the whole WR market (yes I know it’s not the same GM)

Cause you are adding in 1 year of devontas rookie deal there. Bad comparison. Contracts will be about equal but devontas is better I think. Not sure what ridleys guaranteed money is. Hes a beast I think and one of the best WRs in the NFL but he had the gambling and character problems and our boy devontas a saint.
Actually calvin ridleys is only 50 guaranteed over 4 years and devonta is 50 for 3. Of course so much other stuff in the contracts who knows. Worse cap hit for us though
We talk about Howie but man, winning or losing there’s a lot of guys in all sports that just love being in Philly
