How are you grading Dax Hill’s season?

  1. He’s a first round pick in year 3. Anything short of being a solid/reliable starter is a bust at this point, in my opinion.

    Hitting on rookie contracts is HUGE with regards to the salary cap because of the cost/benefit nature of rookie deals being much cheaper.

    If we’re going to pay Joey B and Jamar the fortunes that they rightfully deserve, we absolutely have to land on our early picks.

    Dax and Murphy need to step up and produce sooner rather than later.

  2. They need to figure out his role and let him stick with it. In his first season he was used all over and last year he showed some bright spots but the entire defense dropped off a cliff. He was a stud slot corner in college and I think he could be incredible there for us and is athletic enough to take on TE’s which has been haunting this team forever. If it means taking snaps from Hilton (hurts to say because we all love Mike) but he’s been a liability in the passing game for a while. I say let those two battle it out. They will need help on the outside since they didn’t replace Chido so my guess is that they will force him there instead.

  3. He’s at a C he was decent and showd signs of being good at saftey

    B+ qt slot cb was great at the slot position need to play him more there

  4. He’s the slot corner of the future. The safety experiment didn’t work. He could be used as the third safety, but he’s clearly a depth piece.

  5. This training camp is do or die for him with the Bengals. That being said, I wouldn’t be offended in the least if they found a way to get some kind of trade value for him during the draft

  6. C-, very inconsistent

    This was seen as a steal at the time so I don’t blame us for taking him. I just don’t really know what’s going on we all see the potential but it’s not coming to reality.

  7. This team hasnt really been great at drafting and its going to start catching up to us

  8. This past season is a F, he was simply trash.

    That being said, as a slot corner I’m optimistic.

  9. I’m pretty sure we just grabbed him as BPA, but for the record, here’s how the other DBs that were available at the same time did last year.

    |Player|PFF Grade|Notes|
    :–|:–|:–|
    |Dax Hill|50.9||
    |Lewis Cine|66.3|Very few snaps|
    |Roger McCreary|71.3||
    |Jalen Pitre|61.8||
    |Kyler Gordon|65.6||
    |Andrew Booth|68.6|Limited snaps|

    So it’s not like we (currently) missed out on an All-Pro, but he’s *clearly* underperforming expectations of where he was drafted. We need to move him, I assume to Slot, because this just isn’t working.

  10. His 2nd season? D+ Easily. He did enough to not be a total liability like Nick Scott, but he isn’t a Bates replacement and is now being forced to changed his position. You can’t look at his 2nd season as a success objectively as a first round pick.
