Unfortunate but not surprising. Next season will be the last year of his contract, and I think he’s the cheapest coach by far.

No one should be surprised by this.
This should be surprising to no one, he’s still under contract and Cronin wasn’t going to come out and say “Yeah this guy is getting fired”.
He’s good for the “tank” but I don’t know if I can justify another year of him “developing” scoot or any of the young guys. Chauncey needs to seriously overhaul the offensive scheme.
Guy has to be fired after next year right? I understand we have no expectations but at some point we need rookies to be coached correctly

His contract is 4 years with a team option. We were absolutely using that as a “come in and win your job” scenario.

I really think the fanbase is just totally wrong on this one. Cronin continues to make good decisions. I’m generally a pessimistic fan and am feeling a lot better about the direction of the team than I have in a long time.
I’ll remind everybody this sub was convinced we needed to keep CJ for like 3 years after he should’ve been gone already. Also, there’s <10 fanbases that think they have a good coach.

I’m okay with Billups sticking around for a bit but I really think they need to gather picks and cheap young players with trying to trade Jerami and brogdon, okc literally has a blueprint out with how to execute a rebuild properly

Will this be the season the TV broadcast finally starts showing his coaching record like they did for Stotts and every other coach in the league instead of his player stats? Tune in to find out!
Saw that coming. Oh well. At least we’ll likely be a much more attractive destination for talented coaches in the 2025 off-season compared to this upcoming one. So it makes some sense in that capacity.
