In case anyone missed it

  1. >There was some flaws in the roster in some missing skillsets and general imbalance where it made it complicated for those guys to reach their highest potential

Isn’t this his job? Like we started the year knowing that the roster has too many redundant guards that overlapped in skills and flaws.

A lot of this is Olshey-esque spinning of a bad season with a shitty, imbalanced roster as development. It’s always easy to tear down for guys other GMs are willing to give up. It’s much harder to build a roster that makes sense on paper and allows it’s players to play to their skillsets. Results matter and he just hasn’t put together a competent, balanced roster in his tenure in Portland.

  2. Not sure what the hate in this thread is about.

The Damian Lillard trade was made after almost all FA signings and the draft. Dame announced his trade request after we picked Scoot.

This team was caught in-between timelines, from shopping the 3rd pick and not finding enough value to pivoting to long term asset maximization and tanking.

If you want to see Cronin make a real tanking roster wait until this offseason and the trade deadline where we fully offload assets and reset the timeline.

I also don’t see the “Olshey-esque spinning”. I think a lot of the fan base sees Cronin as a more honest and fluid operator than Olshey ever was with the used car salesman speak. The quote posted in this thread literally was Cronin laying it how it is. Do you expect him to cry out how poorly he failed on his own metrics or say how amazing he did? The entire presser was a pretty honest assessment.
