  1. Why the fuck would they pinch run their best pitcher? Was the bench completely empty?

  2. Also, am I stupid or is he safe because he A. Slid under the tag and B. Was blocked by the defender?

  3. Am I insane or is that safe not close? It looks like the first tag is on the right leg when Freeland is well over the plate. Was his foot up, was there another tag on his shoulder or something?

  4. I love the idea about utilizing pitchers when not pitching, but as a pitcher, small injuries (and of course worse injuries) can be problematic when hurling the ball. It’s a fine line here

  5. Watching it back again, I really have no idea how Hoffman sticking out his foot isn’t blatant interference in this modern game. I guess you just have free reign to do whatever you want if the ball has already been thrown in your direction

  6. Why did Hoffman run directly into the baseline? Obviously at least one of them got hurt on that play.

  7. This was actually a lot more complicated than the short clip shows. Tmac said something about the fact that JT played the wild pitch so there was no blocking home argument. The challenge (I believe) was that the pitcher blocked home, which if that isn’t part of the rule, they lost the challenge.

I could have gotten what he said completely wrong so don’t take my word for it lol

EDIT: A way better explanation [home plate collisions](https://baseballrulesacademy.com/2023-home-plate-collision-and-pitcher-declaration/)

Pitcher was drawn in on the play therefore, because of the speed of the play, there is no obstruction

Also had no idea they can challenge more than one thing at once

  8. That’s crazy. I remember one time Vogelbach got on base and we had nobody on the bench, so my brothers and I were joking about how pinch-running Berrios or Bassitt would be faster.

  9. This is a red card in the premier league that VAR agonizes over for five minutes.

  10. Ive seen a former teammate dislocate his shoulder on a play exactly like that. You put your arm down when you slide and the ground pushes the shoulder out of the socket

  11. Thats very clearly safe for a number of reasons not the least of which is the pitcher using his foot to block the runner which doesnt even matter because he still touches home before being tagged.
