  1. Id be happy with Lindy, he’s a legit top coach, and his style might be what we need.

Appert is Granato development style, is that what we need?

Gallant? Sure I guess, he prefers vets, so not sure how he’d do with a young team.

Boudreau another old head but makes the playoffs all the time.

  2. Fuck it, Scotty Bowman. Yeah he’s 90-91 years old, but we’re the only team he coached that didn’t win a Cup (Blues were an expansion team so they don’t count) He owes us one.

  3. I always forget we had Bylsma… god it’s been a long time since this has been fun lol

  4. This time around they will go with a proven veteran (Ruff, Berube, but please god not Torts) to right the ship. I hope the next pick after that is a promotion for a younger hot shot. The Cap’s Carbery has been really good at getting that team to overachieve — and he was AHL coach and Leafs assistant before.

  5. Pretend to be a normal NHL team who is hiring a normal NHL head coach.

Someone people have heard of with a track record in the NHL. No AHL head coaches. No first-time head coaches. No 4D brain-genius out-of-left-field nonsense. No zany kookie ideas like making Marty Biron coach. No retreads or nostaligia-bait. Do not promote Ellis. Do not promote Seth Appert.

    Just. Be. Normal.

Hire a normal NHL coach. That’s it.

  6. Knowing this sub you’re gonna say hire Lindy as if holding onto the past hasn’t been a problem for 13 years.

Knowing Kevyn Adams he’ll push hard for berube or even Rod Brind’Amour.

  7. I jokingly said that sending peca to NYR was Adam’s getting him experience behind an amazing bench before coming back. I am less joking about it now that donny was fired.

  8. That’s exactly why this team hasn’t seen the playoffs in 13 years ….definition of insanity do the same thing over and over and expect different results

  9. Rod the Bod is a no brainer if they are crazy enough to let him walk, but I assume it’s Peca.

  10. Maybe easier said than done. The very experienced NHL coaches without baggage typically would have more than one team interested. Why choose the Sabres when they have a track record of killing coaching careers?

  11. Yall act like this is a surprise the bills cycled through coaches until they found mcd

  12. There is hope. The sale of the Coyotes should tell all the cheap owners that their franchises are still worth $1b to $1.25b, no matter how much they are losing. That’s what a franchise is worth now. Any franchise (so long as you can move/sell it).

They’ve been operating for years as if the franchise is only worth half that amount.

If they aren’t idiots (and that’s a big if), their internal budget should have increased massively over the last couple weeks (which actually explains all the firings today).

  13. *opens binder of oft-fired head coaches*

Ahh, yes.. here’s Gallant. Oh, and Daryl Sutter, he’s probably looking to get back to the grind.
Perhaps Claude would like to get back to it, or maybe Woodcroft is the youthful VIGOR this team requires… Choices, choices.. hm.

Just hire another coach who’s already been fired from somewhere else, preferrably multiple times, and hope for the best.
That’s what we’re best at here in Buffalo…being stupid, and hoping.
