I’m actually pretty excited for Brissett

I made a bold claim back in 2016 that Brissett would be our QB of the future. Sorry to monkey paw you all.

He won me, when the salty Bills shoved our QB during warmups and he didn't even flinch. He defused the fight and got everyone back on track for runthroughs.

Of the wolfpack, he had the least amount of talent, but he had poise. Ice. Leadership. Garappolo wimped out and Brissett carried on. I wonder what could have become of him if he got to develop in our system.

Now he's a workhorse veteran and he'll be a stable platform to build a young QB on. I hope he gets one season to really shine, he deserves it.

Fuck the Bills.

  1. I think Brissett is somewhat underappreciated. He is a solid NFL QB. He’ll never be spectacular but he is better than almost any backup QB.

  2. I’m excited for Brissett and look forward to more stability.  I don’t think he’s gonna break out or be a big fix, but he’s the perfect guy for the job at hand and I am going to enjoy rooting for him.

  3. He’s better than people give him credit for. Not an elite guy obviously but he’s mostly competent and will have some games where he goes off.

  4. Brissett is going to amaze this fanbase with his averageness.

Having just witnessed abject failure, averageness is going to be a big improvement. And it’ll be obvious when he cedes the job to a rookie who makes boneheaded rookie mistakes.

Brissett knowing AVP’s offense is why he is here. By the end of the year, fans will appreciate him for being the “steady veteran”.

  5. I too, am actually a fan of him. I think he’ll be substantially better than anything we’ve had since Brady.

  6. I don’t want him to shine that much. If we draft a QB this year and go into next years draft with a top 3 pick, we can trade down for a massive haul.

  7. Well, if our other option is Zappe I’m “pretty excited for Brissett” myself. If they’re able to draft Marvin Harrison Jr with the 3rd pick their offense wil be dramatically improved.

  8. Ya personally it just feels like the patriots aren’t in love with Maye or JJ, seems Mayo liked Daniels and the Commanders have decided to draft him.

It’s extremely hard to find a franchise QB, but it’s also difficult to find elite playmakers. MHJ or Nabers would be the most talented WR we’ve ever drafted.

If our defense is as good as last year, and our O-Line can be improved, I really think we’d have a playoff push in us.

  9. Hell yeah. Brissett will be better than people think if the OLine holds up. He’s not gonna go out and throw 40 touchdowns but he is perfectly capable of leading a team to wins. I think a peak “breakout year” for brissett probably looks something like Alex Smith, which would be huge for this team.

I know people want to just tank and have a top 3 pick again, but if we truly want this done right, best case scenario is Brissett does ok and ends with 8/9 wins. That keeps the games interesting to watch, and more importantly keeps our dumbass home crowd from booing Brissett and forcing the rookie
To play too early. You know bitch boy Kraft will succumb to public pressure. Going 4-13 again would put a lot of pressure on the wrong people IMO.

  10. He’s not even that bad, and smarter than Mac with the football. This fanbase is going to be surprised by how much more competitive the team is when the offense isn’t accounting for 3-4 turnovers every game

  11. There’s pretty much no expectations for this season other than development across the board, if he really shines that would be nice but as long as whoever we take doesn’t feel pressured to start? Sounds good to me.

  12. He’s the perfect bridge QB for either Maye or McCarthy to learn behind for a year.

And all us fans need to remember this year isn’t a “go for it” year. We need to relax and let Jacoby do his thing for 17 games regardless of where our record is. Let the kid ride the bench and don’t force a late season showing just because we are antsy

  13. Brissett isn’t elite by any means but he is tied for lowest career int% in NFL history. It is 2.5x lower than Mac last season at 1.4%

The number 1 thing dragging us down the last few years is losing the turnover differential. With Judon and Gonzo and Marcus coming back and White developing, look for them to create a ton of turnovers. Brissett will take care of the ball on offense.

  14. More excited for a rookie than a guy who has never had a winning season in his career. He’s pretty much in line with Zappe and Mac lately but with fewer turnovers. Excited to see them score 21 without a miracle, I don’t think Brissett will be that. Maybe I’ll be wrong, but it’s been a lot of seasons to not ever be a winning starter.

Also worth mentioning after Garoppolo “wimped out” he went to a SB and almost beat Mahomes. His career even with the injuries is not even close to Brissett’s in terms of highs. I wouldn’t try to compare the two if I was trying to hype up Brissett. They didn’t trade Garoppolo after his rookie season for a flyer on a bust WR.

  15. If you are “pretty excided for Brissett” – you are likely suffering from some form of Stockholm Syndrome.

  16. He’s a solid back up but will never be a consistant starter. For every good thing he does he does two things wrong. Go back and watch when he started for the Browns against us last year. Thats exactly what he is.

  17. He did well for the Browns before they started Watson. Hopefully that’s the Brissett that shows up.

  18. He did well for the Browns before they started Watson. Hopefully that’s the Brissett that shows up.

  19. He’s can still sling it a bit! Watched two Wash games at the end of last season where Howell looked lost, and Jacoby came in and immediately connected on deep balls to get the offense going.

  20. Brissett is a dude. Honestly surprised more people aren’t high on having him back. Locker room loves him. Works his butt off. Smart guy. He’s going to have a hell of a year, especially since we’re committed to not just throwing our rookie to the wolves.

  21. Whether its good or bad depending on if you want a top pick next year, Brissett is sadly a big upgrade at QB for us. Just goes to show how bad Zappe and Jones had became.

It’ll be nice to see an at least professional on the field instead of a peewee player or whiny bitch. NE is about getting punched in the face and not flinching. Mac Jones flinched if the breeze blew the wrong way, he was far too emotional to ever be a QB1.

  22. I’m telling you! I agree. Brissett is ready for this opportunity. Slow and steady.

  23. I think there’s a copium and hopium leak in this post. Brisset blows. Dude won four Games as a starter with van plet

  24. I love Jacoby. Seems like a great dude and is exactly what you want in a backup QB. Good chance we’re a much better team with him playing instead of Mac/Zappe.

That said, he is pretty much the polar opposite of exciting.

  25. I have wanted Brissett back since the moment they got rid of him. I felt the exact same way that he was going to be our successor to Brady. I don’t care what this sub thinks. I think he’ll start and do well this season for us. He’s genuinely one of my favorite players in the league.
