right. they need to win in regulation, else they may as well lose. they will do what every team does when the alternative is losing- pull the goalie.
what’s insane is the number of times i’ve seen this observation today. which to be clear im not pinning on the OP, but man its just all over the place today.
Literally everyone realized this last night.
I just keep thinking back to all the points we left on the table throughout the season in perfectly winnable games. Situations like putting Ovechkin in the shootout or pissing away a 4 minute powerplay in overtime.
We should have already clinched.
Insaner scenario : a scoreless game, the Flyers pull their goalie, empty netter, the Caps win a 1-0 game while both goalies get a shootout.
