bers B he’s taken down behind the line

[Applause]
[Music]
hey friends welcome in to Mock Draft
live presented by nerd wallet and we
have a bunch of nerds with us today
myself included Colleen wolf here with
Bucky Brooks Daniel Jeremiah and Peter
shrer is dropping his mock Peter I know
that you’re just as excited as we are to
unveil this right we’ve been talking
draft for a while Colleen but today I
dropped my official first mock draft and
it feels like draft season has begun
let’s go it is here all right let’s like
not even waste any time death taxes and
Caleb Williams to the Bears it’s very
familiar and this is what you’re doing
number one overall I like it yeah look
Caleb’s had three great meetings with
the Bears at that the combine his prod
day and of course his visit his only
visit it’s a sure thing uh this is a
great fit and he goes to a very good
situation yeah I have more questions
about what the Bears will do at 9: than
this one but we’ll get to that you can’t
rush these things let’s go to the
commanders up next here and you have
Washington doing something we’ve seen in
the past drafting a Heisman winning
quarterback with the second overall pick
yeah that was RG3 this right here is
Jaden Daniels he’s going to be in the
house uh this week in Washington again
they’ve enjoyed their meetings with him
I talked to sources there uh they’ve
been really impressive it’s Daniels or
May right now 10 days out I’m going with
jadden Daniels and his Mobility that he
has Al helps as they kind of rebuild
that offensive line there in Washington
let’s go to New England Peter because
they’re not trading back they’re picking
up Drake may could be a tradeback spot I
could tell you that Drake may had a
really good dinner with the Patriots
last week they went to Davos in Patriots
Place which is an Italian Steakhouse
they whed and DED him 21 years old uh if
you’re the New England Patriots you
don’t expect being in the top five very
often and in this case you get the
quarterback that you feel very good with
Daniels or whoever’s there at three I
think that’s New England pick yeah and
Gerard Mayo he said that there’s no
ceiling on him at all so the sunroof it
is open all Fresco dining at this point
but let’s talk about these scenarios
here that the number one overall pick is
going to this year with the Bears if it
is Caleb Williams we’ll go back to the
number one pick that Peter had in his
mock compared to last year with Bryce
young going to the Panthers DJ just how
different those two situations
are yeah not every team picking number
one is the same and some of these
situations you just kind of hold your
breath you go in there and say man I
don’t know if there’s much chance for
success and hindsight looking back at
the Carolina of Panthers and the roster
issues that they had that was tough uh
for Bryce young this on the other hand
is a much better situation this is
outstanding in terms of the Weaponry
that’s already in place you think about
the skill position players when you
bring in a Keenan Allen and pair him up
with the DJ Moore and you have two tight
ends a big time tight end and Cole K A
young big physical guy and then they
bring in Gerald ever who’s excellent
after the catch the running back room is
deep and talented the offensive line has
improved over the last year so totally
different situation and I think that’s
why you could see Caleb get off to a
very hot start there in Chicago yeah DJ
is is really set up nicely form he has
Playmakers on the outside veteran
Playmakers was really important for a
Young quarterback DJ Moore Keenan Allen
Cole KT uh they’re going to be
defendable and reliable that’s going to
make it easy for him to throw with touch
timing and anticipation because he’s
going to trust that they’re going to be
there the offensive line you talked
about being upgraded the real the the
big question will be offensive
coordinator Shane Waldren how does he
handle a Young quarterback can he set
him up for Success can he make the game
easy for him without putting too much on
his plate that is the challenge because
we all have expectations that Caleb
Williams going to walk out of SC into
halis Hall and immediately become a star
I think it’s up to the playall caller to
make sure that he doesn’t put too much
on the Young quarterback too soon
because that could be the thing that
slows him down I would just add they
were talking to him at the comine and I
listened to I read the transcripts back
and forth and it’s hey would you
consider you know are you so excited
about being a Bears player and you’re
thinking he’s going to go down the
typical well Walter pton and buckus and
McMahon and all the Legends and Gail
sers no he said that’s an attractive
place because they were seven and 10
last year like he’s not you know
dripping in Nostalgia he’s not pandering
he’s not doing all that stuff with the
Bears Legends and H Hall he’s like no
that’s a good team last year I’m joining
a good team I think he knows the deal
and they’re EXC to have him yeah and and
they approached this so much differently
than the Panthers did the Panthers
gutted their roster to get their
quarterback and then Adam thielen um is
the number one guy right now so they
have a lot of work to do Caleb has a
much better situation that they were
able to kind of get some assets and
build for him to make that transition a
little bit easier but when you look at
uh picks two and three in Peter’s mock
who’s more week one ready I mean we’ll
know soon enough when the schedule’s
finally finally released and the players
are drafted who is playing where and who
is playing what team but between Daniels
and may who is more ready to start well
I mean if we go off collegiate career we
would say that Jaden Daniels is more
ready than Drake May and that’s simply
because of the Reps that he had at the
Collegiate level 55 career starts is
significant five years as a start at
Arizona then at LSU you think about
having to play in multiple systems
playing with good players playing with
not so good players he’s been through
more which should allow him to kind of
handle what has thrown his away his
first year but Drake May is super
talented I would just say that Jaden
Daniel’s experience at the Collegiate
level should allow him to maybe pick up
the game and acclimate to the Pro game
quicker yeah I I would go with Bucky on
that one I mean it’s just a sheer
experience right you’re going to give
Jaden Daniels the nod there in terms of
the number of starts and the number of
defenses and situations that he’s had a
chance to be in live game action again
so now I would say he’s has a leg up in
terms of of being ready to go right away
but I also think you know one of the
things he’s going to have to do he’s
he’s got something he needs to
absolutely work on in terms of
protecting himself because he might be
able to get out there early but in order
for him to stay out there he’s going to
have to be a little more careful when he
uses himself as a runner using those
legs and his athleticism that’s the one
cautionary tale I would say there with
Jen Daniels you know times have changed
now those quarterbacks were taking in
the top five top 10 they start right
away we saw it with Anthony Richardson
last year who was young and went in
there and had very little experience so
I’m going to say both of those guys if
they’re drafted in the top three I would
expect them both to compete for the
starting job but I would agree with
Bucky and DJ that Jaden Daniels is far
more ready to take the league by storm
than Drake May is at this point DJ said
that he has a little bit of a leg up and
I feel like it’s because of his legs
that Mobility he can get out of a lot
more jams that is great for a Young
quarterback uh in his rookie season so
three straight quarterbacks to start the
draft and another team is jumping up to
take a
fourth the time is now
McCarthy to throw in the end
zone and there goes JJ
McCarthy handed by mcarthy he throws
caught touchdown Wolverine he’s going
deep the catch
is so Peter JJ McCarthy and Daniel Jones
just two quarterbacks hanging out with
the Giants now together don’t forget
Drew lock let’s get them all in the same
quarterback room I’ve got the Giants
trading up just two spots but moving up
to get Joe Shane’s quarterback and Brian
dable remember they didn’t draft Daniel
Jones they inherited Daniel Jones they
paid him $80 million but they can also
get out of that contract after this next
season DJ of course coming off uh ACL
injury and a let’s just say nothing
spectacular when he was on the field
last year in this case JJ McCarthy I
know the Giants have done extensive
extensive work work on all the top
quarterbacks the top three of course but
also on JJ McCarthy uh this one here a
little roll the dice my mock draft I am
going with JJ McCarthy in a trade up
scenario now Arizona sitting there at
four they could still trade back with
the Giants and still get one of those
top wide receivers if they did that with
Minnesota Denver or the Raiders you’re
really not in contention to get one of
those top wide outs this one they could
still pick up extra picks and get their
guy you know what Peter that sounds like
you’re using a lot of brain power which
brings us to smarter picks presented by
nerd wallet uh DJ that would obviously
put a lot of pressure on JJ McCarthy
just playing in the New York Market
alone so what’s he working with there
what do you like on
tape well first of all let’s talk about
Peter real quick with that over the
shoulder uh Emmy that he’s got up there
look I mean I I just I just want take
that put my little golf TR haven’t been
on TV in a while DJ I wanted to showcase
the uh all right just reminding folks I
still have a place at NFL Network hi
yeah yeah everything’s going great yeah
call me call me when you win a scramble
at a golf course in Ramona call me when
you do that buddy let me right there um
let’s get to the XO here uh I’ll show
you a little bit about JJ McCarthy and
what he brings to the table first of all
as a thrower he’s gifted you don’t get
to see him throw it a ton but when you
do you see the velocity and you see the
accuracy to fit balls into Tight Windows
and think about big games he’s been in
them one of them there against the
Buckey the ability to make things happen
extend and create you see that when you
watch him in that third down reel making
things happen on some design quarterback
runs he can bring that to the table as
well so I think he has a chance to
expand your playbook with his skill set
and all the different things that he can
do it’s just volume that’s the
difference between him and these top
Guys these guys have more experience
with having the game placed in their
hands they played Michigan football they
turned around and handed it off a bunch
and it’s hard to argue with the results
so I think the abil is there I think
think he might require a little more
patience than the top three guys yeah
the one thing that I would add about JJ
McCarthy though is people are talking
about like the lack of experience in
those things but I think he had to do a
great job of checking his ego at the
door to go play Michigan when you’re a
big time quarterback you decide that hey
I’m not going to throw it all over the
yard I’mma hand it off I think the
winning spe the intangibles all of those
things matter I think it makes it a lot
easier particularly for a defensive
minded coach or someone that wants to
play a little different style hey we’re
not going to throw it because the
quarterback is going to buy into
whatever the philosophy is it’s a lot of
pressure on Joe and Brian Dall to get
this right if they do in fact move up
for a quarterback we’ll have to wait and
see and we only have to wait like almost
a week at this point which is great news
and listen we’ve talked a lot about
quarterbacks there are other positions
that we need to get to coming up here
how about the guys catching passes here
Peter’s not going to keep us waiting
much longer you can find out where the
top wide outs land right after this
[Music]
oh shoot the 2024 NFL draft presented by
budlight it is next week you can catch
all seven rounds 3 days live from
Detroit April 25th to the 27th with NFL
Network draft coverage presented by
Verizon on ABC ESPN ESPN Deportes and
streaming on NFL plus if you can’t find
it that’s your problem it’s all over the
place it all starts Thursday April 25th
8:00 p.m. Eastern you can go to
nfl.com draft for more
information and it’s caught o dun Odun
catches it on the flly in order to get
the touchdown and he’ll Sling It Out
Rome
adun sideline Rome Odun there’s the shot
to
adun ZIPS SW down the sideline wide open
for an easy walk-in TouchDown for
Neighbors TR
and a laser beam shot to Malik neighbors
the big plays just keep on coming to the
end Z caught
touchdown rising to the occasion is
Marvin Harrison Jr I Marvin Harrison Jr
Harrison wide open TouchDown Harrison
[Music]
again so with the fifth overall pick Jim
Harbaugh gets a familiar face from the
Big 10 Marvin Harrison Jun J joins the
Chargers Peter yeah look this guy was as
consistent as it comes was great with CJ
strad was even better this past year
with inferior quarterback play compared
to strout he’s a blue chipper through
and through if he falls to five the
Chargers would be thrilled Michigan Ohio
State beef aside and Peter just get
ready to track his speed next season uh
he’s going to break NGS I know you love
that so this is going to be a big one to
watch um okay now the Cardinals pick in
the trade back to six and Peters feel
and romad dun to join KY muray look you
trade back two picks you give up the
chance to get Harrison but you still get
a Dun and you get a bunch of other picks
from the Giants I love this and AD dun
might go before Harrison depending on
the team you ask but in this case
Cardinals would be thrilled to have
Kyler and AD dun as a connection for the
future yeah and adun has a little bit of
DeAndre Hopkins with those contested
catches to him too so he’s uh taller
faster but that physicality it’s
absolutely there let’s keep all the wide
receivers together though and Skip ahead
to nine where the Colts move up to get
Anthony Richardson a fellow SEC stud
Malik
neighbors yeah this is a controversial
one online right now because the Bears
could be sitting pretty and get Caleb
Williams Malik neighbors I’ve got the
Colts mortgaging a lot and moving up six
picks from 15 to nine and going to get
their guy remember AFC South the Titans
loaded up the Texans loaded up the
Jaguars loaded up the Colts didn’t do
much this could be the Home Run move of
all I love the idea of Richardson to
neighbors and of course you got Pitman
and Pierce as the two and three
I I need a draft night camera on Reggie
Wayne their wide receivers coach if this
happens I just need to see that live
reaction um DJ Harrison adun neighbors
they’re the clear-cut top three here
what sets them apart though and then how
much is there a drop off to wide
receiver four just knowing how deep this
position is this
year well I think all three of these
guys are just elite players so they’re
three of the top five players in the
entire draft according to the grades I
gave them so I I have the grades that
pushed them all the way up there and
that means I view them as number ones
like they’re they’re going to be the
focal point of an offense they have that
type of ability so you know to me that’s
where the separator is I like some of
these other wide receivers but uh to me
these guys are clearly A Step
Above yeah when DJ talks about the elite
and what separates them from others is
these guys have very clean profiles and
even though they play different
stylistically each player that we’re
talking about can be the anchor of a
passing game meaning they can command a
double team they can hold it down when
they’re double teamed and all of those
things and everyone in the stadium knows
they’re going to get the ball they
proven that they can get open the
separating factor between these guys and
the others the other guys have to be in
specific roles to have a lot of success
these guys are scheme friendly you can
put them anywhere and they’ll find a way
to have a lot of production what’s
interesting is that I think teams might
have these guys in a different order I
also think the fourth wide receiver
taken is all over the board like it
could one team told me why not lad
makoni as the the fourth another team
was like Thomas is obviously the fourth
another team was going on and on about
ad Mitchell so I think it’s interesting
how these guys R rank in the draft but
also who’s that fourth guy we’ll see in
less than two
weeks what’s going on DJ what’s up what
is that is that a Bowling Championship
biger I mean I figured that my golf my
little golf trophy didn’t compete with
Peter zy so I just went this is uh first
place Convoy of Hope the 2023 golf
tournament so we got this one here now
we’ll just keep adding trying to compete
sounds like you got a lot of time off to
impressive DJ there’s a lot of trophies
a lot of trophies wow I can’t believe
you have uh enough shelving to have all
of these trophies unbelievable you must
have like a back shed with all of your
Awards hey um we’re just winners here
that’s all that’s all that’s right and
we all like to compete where’s your uh
where’s your stuff no no trophies like
we we just move on we’re focus on to the
next I like that all right let’s go on
to the next here speaking of pass
catchers the Jets they are up and
they’re calling this guy
[Applause]
Bowers with the catch trucks him in
Bowers heading to the end zone and there
is Bowers touchdown that’s Brock Bowers
the reigning Macky Award winner he
delivers to Brock bers man is he
devastating after the
catch Peter is Aaron really getting a
skill position player in the first round
Say It Ain’t So look all these offensive
tackles outside of Al are available in
the way that my mock draft goes and yet
I still have them taken Brock Bowers
which has been seen in a lot of
different mock drafts uh he was visiting
the Jets on Monday Rogers are in the
house Jets might trade back Jets might
take an offensive lineman Jets could do
a lot of things I would love Brock
Bowers there especially if Aaron
rogers’s time in New York is rather
limited to 1 to two years why not give
him all the weapons he possibly can have
Bowers is the real deal I love them guys
I love it too Bucky we’ve heard so many
glowing reviews about Bowers so why stop
stop now at this point like what do you
think of him so look I I was looking for
the comparison and I dug into the crates
and I think he kind of reminds me of
Jeremy shaki we can look at the EXO tape
and I want everyone to think about when
Jeremy shaki took the league by storm
for the New York Giants I so much
similar because I loved him similar
traits because look this guy can catch
and run he’s physical he’s terrific
after the catch he has that nastiness
and that edginess that you like and he’s
really a a wide meaning he can line up
attached to the tackle he can line up
out wide he can do everything great
hands great ball skills has the
toughness great pedigree because down at
Georgia they make you earn everything so
when he comes into the league this guy
is ready to go he’s a plug-and-play
playmaker you put him with a jet with
Aaron Rogers he is going to find a way
to have a lot of success he is a
terrific playmaker one that should
compete for all rookie honors right away
I think he’d be a pro bowler very early
in his
career yeah and Peter talked about you
know they could take an offensive
lineman one of the concerns there is man
is this offensive line going to be able
to hold up the thing about Bowers that
gives you quick easy completions you
think about Garrett Wilson how quick he
can uncover now you have another one
here with Brock Bowers you’re going to
be able to get Mike Williams as a
vertical threat on the outside I like
how all these pieces would fit together
you know with Aaron Rogers they just
need to keep these guys healthy uh but
to me when you’ve got an offensive line
that might not be at the elite level man
I want easy completions and Brock Bowers
provides that yeah and look this is a
mock draft it’s an exercise if we come
out here and say they’re taking T fanga
I mean I wouldn’t doubt it at all I also
wouldn’t be shocked if they trade back
remember they don’t have a second round
pick so Jets fans they tend to listen to
what I say because of my relationships
in that building they assume it’s fact
look Bowers visited it’s a nice fit
trust me it’s not in
pen No but it is a very pet is over here
sandbagging he’s sandbagging it’s in pin
it’s in pin he’s sandbagging it’s in P
at this point I’m going to be
disappointed if it doesn’t happen you
guys I mean and on paper looks real
great okay so Peter your top 10 picks
they are in we have three wide receivers
the Titans they get will Levis some
installation with Notre Dames Joe Al the
Falcons resist the urge to take another
skill position player in the first round
because their pass rush has taken a
repeated dirt nap year after year Dallas
Turner gets that call he will absolutely
help right away and then the Jets
offense as we just talked about gets
another spark with Bowers okay the
Vikings they’re on the clock with KIRO
in Atlanta they need a quarterback so
how will Peter play this pick here you
can find out next on MRA
[Music]
live welcome back to Mock Draft live
brought to you by nerd wallet all right
so the Vikings Peter they pass on a
quarterback here instead calling up
former roofer and Alabama Corner terion
Arnold this might cause Mass hysteria in
Minnesota if they don’t get a
quarterback and they end up getting a
corner I teams love Arnold he’s been
amazing in these interviews he is a lock
down corner and a guy who could be a
number one might not happen right away
but to me this is a solid foundational
pick oh but the response from those
Vikings fans if they miss out on those
four quarterbacks and they get Terry and
Arnold instead just wait well listen
this is when the Vikings turn around
their first round luck on with
cornerbacks like this is it this would
be it uh Peter also has the Broncos
going defense here they need a lot of
things including a pass rusher like latu
latu yeah second pass rusher off the
board for me and I’ve had multiple teams
tell me he’s been a check mark of okay
medically which is very important
obviously we know the injury with the
neck when he was at Washington uh
Broncos another team don’t take
quarterback here sit pretty and take a
defensive player the fan base might be
sharing their shoulders I’d keep an eye
on some quarterbacks who might be on the
market though Denver might not be done
with the veteran uh quarterback game
let’s just say that okay ooh I like this
tease here so DJ what is it about lat’s
talent that would kind of ease any
concerns about his medical retirement at
Washington like he has so many Pros when
you watch his style of
play yeah I mean I can just show you the
video uh see what makes him so special
and why You’ why you’ve seen the prod
you know he’s had this production the
last two years the concern about the
injuries is legitimate you know when you
when you’re retired by one school but he
stayed healthy the last two years you
see the bend you see the hands he’s the
most polished pass rusher we talked
about guys as Craftsman as route Runners
it’s the same as pass rushers and the
fact he can do it inside as well as
outside and went to the Senior Bowl here
against Jordan Morgan from Arizona uh
here’s another offensive line he’s going
against it’s a day two pick I mean these
are these are quick wins for a natural
pass rusher so you know Peter mentions
that a lot of teams are okay with it you
know I I don’t think you’re going to get
the same medical grade from all 32 teams
but in his defense he only needs one he
needs one to buy in on him and the
talent is absolutely worthy of him going
at this point in the draft Yeah DJ the
talent is through the roof and one of
the things that you love about lotu you
talked about the natural pass rushing
skills he has that there are two things
that every Elite pass rusher must have
tremendous get off and outstanding hand
skills he has that he has the full
repertoire of moves he can win with with
force or finesse he can move inside
outside with a standing up three-point
stance he has all the tools and traits
that you look for so if he clears
medically we’re talking about a guy
who’s going to be a problem in the
league this is a outstanding Prospect
outstanding player and would look good
in Denver considering too like this was
a pass rush that used to have the
foundation of Von Miller and Bradley
chub
Peter yeah and demarus wear before that
like that’s that used to be a staple of
what the Broncos were doing when they
were one of those top teams and in the
case of Denver they’ve got two offensive
tackles and Bs and mcclinchy mcclinchy
of course makes the most money and Bs is
is no Spring Chicken in football terms
you know he was obviously an older guy
so offensive tackle could make sense but
I don’t think you pass on latu if he’s
sitting there at 12 especially with how
their defensive pass rush was last
season okay so Bucky if you are George
Payton the GM in Denver you’re under a
considerable amount of pressure to get
this first round pick right this entire
draft right after everything that has
happened there are you just going to
roll with Jared stum at this point do
you feel comfortable going that route
with Sean I would explore different
Avenues to see if I can fix the
quarterback situation but I’m going to
take the best play available and right
now if you’re telling me latu versus bck
or Michael pennick I would take latu I
would take the pass pressure over the
quarterback that could be available at
this point
M okay well uh let’s take a look at
Peter’s picks here 13 through 19 and
what a run we have five linemen come off
the board board the Bears trade back and
pick up Toledo Corner quinan Mitchell
and the Bengals fortify their dline with
Byron Murphy out of Texas so we move to
20 where options abound in the
quarterback room but no matter who’s
throwing you have Brian Thomas Jr
catching
Peter I I I I’m waiting for Omar Khan
who’s been rolling the dice to get a
wide receiver for them remember they
traded away Deontay Johnson like to get
Wilson and to get Fields is great but we
need another wide receiver here once
slips all the way to 20 that a lot of
people have as a top 15 guy Thomas
fantastic Prospect great at the combine
and has interviewed well I think he’d be
a wonderful fix and also a great
compliment to George Pickins in
Pittsburgh round a 433 at 63210 I mean
he has some speed at 21 the dolphins
stay local and grab Jared verse for
their dline Peter yeah great pass rusher
here I I’m battling where to put him and
whether he goes 21 25 28 I think he’s a
first round pick and I think with the
dolphins losing both Christian Wilkins
and Ben GLE in their front seven I I
think they would go defense and I think
this would make a lot of sense yeah
especially with those injuries to
Bradley chub and jayen Phillips last
year let’s go to Philly up next and the
secondary needs primary attention here
they get it with Iowa Corner Cooper de
Jean I this is personal I just I thought
it was a fun fit like I howy Roseman
like doesn’t just sit on his hands and
take you know what Cooper dein is a very
polarizing Prospect I’ve had some teams
tell me he could go top 20 I’ve had
others say they don’t have him in the
first round especially coming off the
injury but gosh he’s versatile gosh he’s
athletic he could help in the Special
Teams game um I love the thought of him
to Philly but again a mock draft I’m not
saying that this comes from Insight from
hoe and from serani and from Vic fangio
I just love the idea of him and Philly
and what he would do on that defense we
have not seen a first round Corner go to
Philly say
does anyone know 3 2 1 Leo Shepard 2002
crazy it’s been a minute so moving along
let’s do another quarterback comes off
the board now the Vikings they draft
their guy at
23 here’s go
Nicks ni hars it up top but he’s got
another touchdown Nix over the middle
the man is open to the cat is M KN wants
oh he’s got a wide open
[Music]
man Peter this bodess well for Minnesota
they pass on Nicks at 11 and he still
Falls to them at
23 I look at this thing and I’m like all
right if you don’t love him at 11 and
he’s still someone you like and he’s
sitting there at 23 is that settling or
is that saying we’re getting an elite
Prospect at 11 and we can get a
quarterback that we we like we don’t
necessarily love as a top four guy do
you do you just pass on him all together
look I think B Knicks has a lot of great
traits obviously with auburn and Oregon
he’s accurate as heck and he can run
Kevin OK connell’s offense I just don’t
know if Vikings fans would be thrilled
with Terry and Arnold and Bo Nicks over
getting a JJ McCarthy or a drake May
well hey who knows maybe he could be an
instant impact player presented by
Microsoft Surface um Bucky what is the
kind of projected learning curve for him
once he gets into the league and how do
you think Justin Jefferson would feel
about this look I think Justin Jefferson
would adapt to Bo Knicks B Knicks Has
Talent Bo Knicks is a really good player
you watch play at Oregan yeah he has a
lot of experience I don’t know if
there’s been a quarterback with more
experience at a Collegiate level than
bck but what I do know is if they were
able to run this offense with KT cousins
you’re getting a younger version of C
Kurt Cousins with more athleticism in BO
Knicks he’s tough he’s been through the
wars he understands how to play and the
quick Rhythm system that Kevin okell
employs is perfect for his skill set I
actually like this pick if it broke like
this for the Minnesota Vikings on draft
day I think everyone in that draft room
would be excited because they got two
good players and a quarterback that
should start for them for a long
time yeah I also think Buck people you
got to be careful punishing somebody for
the offense they play in this was the
offense that they ran where it was get
the ball out of your hands be efficient
be accurate you know and then maybe some
layups over the top not as many Drive
throws well he was the most accurate
quarterback in the history of the NCAA
in that offense but it doesn’t mean mean
he can’t power the ball if he needs to
it’s just it’s not that system I think
he’s got a little more horsepower a
little more Talent as a thrower than
maybe some people give him credit for
and and I don’t think that he limits
your offense uh because of that and also
his athleticism with Kevin okell wanting
to move quarterbacks around a little bit
he can do that as well okay so we are
all now bonck truthers and everyone get
off his back I feel like now he’s
getting too much heat and um listen the
offense they could lean on Aaron Jones
and he can also lean on Justin jeers so
there is
a please do yes this is your mock I’ve
got Nick over I’ve got Nicks over penx
which is obviously going to make news
and I’ll just spoil it I don’t have
Michael penx going in the first round in
my mock draft and I know that’s you know
sacr religious to some and I don’t play
favorites I don’t have a team that I
have he could go as high as 11 12 or 13
and I’ll be wrong on this thing and
maybe next mock I’ll change it but I
don’t have a spot for pennx right now
which is what happened with Will Levis
last year and everyone just assumed well
someone will take them someone will take
them not necessarily so this is the last
quarterback I have taken I’ve got five
of them going but I don’t have penck
going in the first round woo and you
have eight wide receivers going which
would break the record too so I do love
that about your Mock and we’re running
through this thing real quick I mean
honestly as fast as run rich run Rich
Eisen he’s back at it again back at it
for the 20th year to benefit St Jude
Children’s Research Hospital you can
post your 40 time using the hashtag
runik and you may be featured on NFL
Network just visit stjude.org back SL
run rich run to donate and see Rich run
on day three of the NFL draft right here
on NFL Network all right Rich trying to
show off that Xavier worthy speed Peter
has him running off the board coming up
soon who gets the burner you can find
out next
[Music]
back here on Mock Draft live Cowboys
pick and Peter sending Xavier worthy
from one Texas team to another Dallas
get some serious speed here at wide
receiver I like this one it’s fun he’s a
burner look we’re going to figure out
what’s going on with the contract for CD
lamb and for Dak Prescott in the
meantime get a pure and everyone else
has got him going offensive line and
there might be some guys that are still
on the board I I like some fireworks
Worthy is a
rocket the headlines that will come out
of this if he goes to Dallas of all
teams oh my goodness and then hey we
have back-to-back longar receivers here
Buffalo takes ad I Mitchell to help fill
that spot left by Stefon digs yeah and
look Mitchell is above Worthy on most
boards but it depends on what a team
needs and I I feel like worthy might be
better fit for the cowboy and Mitchell
would be glad to go to Buffalo with Josh
Allen and vice versa I think they’d be
shocked if he was still sitting there at
28th but sometimes that’s how drafts go
positions are ranked differently by each
team and in my mock draft I got him
going to the bills M this is the like
potential replacement portion of the
program because let’s skip ahead to the
ners they’re joining the wide receiver
party in Peters Mock and I’m going
straight to Brandon auk’s insta for
reaction if this happens to Lad
makoni yeah I think auk there or not
makoni is one to Circle for two teams
the Rams and the 49ers you want to talk
about just run the offense do the right
thing be in the right place I feel like
this is Cooper cup Junior and in many
cases could be an absolute stud in that
San Francisco offense where it’s so
route based and based on what Kyle
Shanahan wants he if Kyle Shanahan could
field a team it would be 11 robots on
the field is running whatever is in his
head makoni can do that I think it’s a
great fit if if he’s still on the board
at 31 Peter they are sort of like this
AI generated team at this point
especially if they keep auk there and
draft makoni oh my God finally let’s
close this thing out with 32 Patrick
Mahomes welcomes a new receiver to
Kansas City yeah and a former Texas Tech
Red Raider I have been harping on this
guy all draft process I see him going
second and third round I even tried to
harass our buddy Daniel Jeremiah when he
listed his top eight wide receivers and
didn’t include jayen pulk I think teams
really like this guy I think he finds a
way at the end of the first round and
and if not I’m an idiot what’s new we’ll
go on and we’ll move on till next year’s
class but I love the idea of the Chiefs
going wide receiver and I threw poke uh
at the end of the draft because he’s a
personal favorite of mine all right well
I’m I listen I don’t like negative selft
talk about this mock Peter I need you to
stand by it I I’m ready to sell it with
you and you know what we’re going to do
here we’re going to do some Pro
comparisons because listen comparison is
the thief of Joy unless it is draft
season so let’s run through some of the
comps for those wide outs that we just
talked about DJ I’m going to have you
start with with Xavier worthy who does
he remind you
of well to me I’ll go Hollywood Brown
you know just watching him come out of
college when you were studying him at
Oklahoma obviously not a big guy slight
frame but just big time juice Big Time
speed and you see it with Xavier worthy
a lot of times when you get these fast
guys explosive players and there’s none
more explosive than worthy you’re a
little tight you’re a little stiff you
can’t run all the routes on the route
tree he can and Hollywood Brown was the
exact same way coming out and although
the the hel have changed for him he’s
been a very productive Pro mhm they both
have that speed Bucky let’s go ad NY
Mitchell who he’s giving who to you uh
he reminds me a lot of T Higgins when T
Higgins was coming out of Clemson not
exactly the same size con but in terms
of the way they play he is a nice
high-end number two wide receiver this
is a smooth playmaker great hands does a
really good job of getting open and
working down the field and you can see
him make those 50-50 catches much like T
Higgins was able to I think a lot of 0s
mitchal success depends on the team that
he goes to and the scheme that they
utilize if you put him in a situation
where he’s able to do things that he
does well making plays down the field uh
this guy can be a start much like T
Higgins has emerged as a start yeah you
throw the ball up they will both come
down with it Peter how about our friend
lad lad makoni who’s your Pro Comp uh
I’m gonna go with Terry McClaren and I
know that might raise some eyebrows and
say wow that’s an interesting comparison
I think they’re built similarly and also
coming out of college mccorn was on one
of those teams that had like three great
wide receivers didn’t have the huge
numbers but everyone you spoke to said
he was the leader he was the culture guy
in this case you’ve got Bowers you got
the two running backs at Georgia you’ve
got the other wide receiver who’s going
to be a stud in the future and all those
different offensive linemen in that
Georgia offense that lad didn’t really
get the same I guess love as far as the
amount of balls that the other guys did
in this wide receiver draft class but
that was Terry McClaren in Ohio State
and has gone on to be a great Pro uh I
like the mclen comparison when you’re
talking about our guy lad makoni they
always seem to be open both of them DJ
you get a bonus one so lucky you you’re
welcome Jaylen pulk who’s your
comp well I just like to keep it in the
Brown family had Maris Brown and now I’m
going to go to Noah Brown here for
Jaylen pulk and Noah Brown I know a lot
of people aren’t as familiar with him
but when you went back and watched him
Ohio State he was with a loaded wide
receiving core and was a little bit
overlooked going through the draft
process but it’s turned out to be a good
Pro really started to come on the last
couple years one with the Cowboys then
one with the Texans but real physical
strong can work in traffic uh that to me
is the same type of player the same type
of role I think you see Jaylen Brown
fitting at the next level I I mean jayen
pulk I should say I’ve got I’ve got
Browns going through my head here good
Celtics player jayen Brown that’s true
you got basketball on the brain too but
Noah
Brown be a bad choice for the Chiefs to
go after he is absolutely buried on that
Texans Depth Chart right now so maybe
they get both of those guys there we’ll
see um let’s wrap up this first round
here joining those four wide receivers
that we just ran through a pair of O
linemen head to two of America’s Finest
Bays green and Tampa the Cardinals get
some help on the Edge from Darius
Robinson Detroit Scoops up Center Zack
Frasier and Baltimore’s defense adds
Kool AG mckinstry but guys we’re not
finished just yet we’ll hear from
Tennessee quarterback Joe Milton and
talk some late round gems so you can be
the smartest person in your friend group
that’s coming
[Music]
up wrapp it up Mock Draft live and hey
with plenty of bigname quarterbacks in
this draft we have some late round
players like Tennessee’s Joe Milton that
can fly under the radar but but that has
not stopped him from getting plenty of
attention on social for that arm of his
he chats about his viral moment and more
on this edition of first
[Music]
draft one day after practice Tennessee
media crew walked up to me with an
orange and we was going to the Orange
Bowl so they told me they was going to
make a video for me where I throw the
orange far as I can and then it’ll land
in Miami going to see how far we can
throw this Orange right here let do it
and then I grabbed the orange and I just
let it go uh played a little bit of
baseball back in the day growing up so I
was able to just gra an orange and throw
110 yards Joe Milton quarterback
University of
Tennessee I’m from pooki
Florida Mark City born and rais and for
hokei it’s a tradition to catch rabbits
so when the can feels burning you see
like the black ass coming to your the
front yard and once you see it you know
it’s time to go we chase rabbits get
fast help your agility a lot of did it
growing up my cousin Quan bden did it
Ricky Jackson that was how you chose
your position in po Florida and I caught
enough rabids to become a
quarterback why should the NFL team
draft me Milton going to take a shot
because the way that I make plays I love
to win also I compete at everything that
I
doee I just be me regardless um no
matter what I don’t let anything affect
me never let nobody see you sweat you
know just keep going no matter what keep
God first um and just trust in
him this draft means so much to me my
name is called motions going to be all
over the place my 2-year-old sister will
be on my lap and I will shed some tears
I’m not going to sit in front of the
camera and lie but I will shed some
tears ready to work regardless of what
happens or wherever I go cuz it’s a
special moment for me but also for my
family I’ll be the first kid in my mom’s
family to get it
[Music]
done so in honor of Joe let’s talk some
late round gems all right DJ you’re up
first on the hot seat who’s a potential
sleeper in uh like day three I don’t
know I feel like night two is not really
a late round so day three guy
here I’m going to go with muhhamad Kamar
who’s a pass rusher from Colorado state
had 13 sacks last year buck and I talk
about this all the time on the mov
sticks podcast if you have production as
a pass rusher in college a lot of times
that translates pretty well to the next
level he is a technic
he understands how to get home and
finish if you watched him against
Colorado and shadur Sanders he almost
you know single-handedly wrecked that
game for the buffalo’s uh with what he
did there so I think he’s going to be a
great steal there on day number three
also if you want to zoom in here real
quick um Peter might have an Emmy but um
yeah call me when you get the best dad
trophy okay call me when you get that
one I’m putting that one right next that
right there I’ll never be in the running
for
it yeah Colleen can’t win it right in
this case and come on DJ ever best dad
check check the
voting okay so I’m going break up joke
time and I’m go to quantz stigers who
was also at the East West shrine game
that muhammd Kamar absolutely dominate
now stigers has an interesting story
because look he went straight from high
school didn’t play in college goes to
the CFL and his most outstanding rookie
right out the gate shows up at the East
West ront B you see him 6 foot 200 lb
last year as a rookie in the CFL he had
five interceptions so imagine already
playing the pro game before you go to
the NFL I think he has a chance Peter I
love that and I’ll be completely honest
it’s the first time I’ve heard
stickers’s name and that’s why we do
this show it’s so cool and Bucky I’m
certain that we’ll be talking about him
in the NFL a guy who we were talking
about throughout the combine and
throughout prod days is tandre sweat
recently had some legal issues arrested
for a
DWI the month of the draft he’s going to
go plummeting down draft boards right
well guess what someone will take him
and he will get another chance in life
and he will be an impact player this is
a guy who had 60 different starts at
Texas played for five years brother’s an
NFL player like tandre sweat’s a player
and he might not go in the first two
days because of his own legal issues but
I think he’s going to be a stud in the
NFL well Peter this mock draft honestly
was a stud uh I hope you feel good about
it it was great to see your face uh it’s
been a minute since we did a show
together um not too long but you know a
minute um and if I was at home I would
bring my Hao horam Hall of Fame plaque
out for all of you because I don’t think
that you guys could be in the running
for that wow okay okay okay wow allg
we’ll see you Sunday for the finale 8:00
p.m. Eastern thank you Peter thank you
guys
