  1. Positives from today’s Cleveland baseball:

    #I FREAKIN LOVE BASEBALL

Kwan is starting to remind me of a pinball machine at the plate, only instead of multi ball, it’s multi hit games constantly with today being his NINTH such game on the year! The offense earns 10 runs off of 14 hits, 6 walks, and a BO NAYLOR stolen base. Kwan gets three singles and a walk, 🆓 shows the power with a solo blast and a double, 🐦 with an RBI double, and Arias with and RBI double and extra innings RBI single. FLORIAL IS A BEAUTIFUL MAN.

Tanner Bibee takes the hill, and while the short outings may continue, this one was solid with a 5IP, 5H, 1R, 2BB, and 3K outing on 92 pitches. With the sole damage from a solo home run, Bibee handled his business and (I assume) looked good.

It was bound to happen at some point. Cade Smith has his first missteps in the majors, and Beede allowed 3 runs off of 2 homers. Unfortunate, but bound to happen, and it gave us a great Eli Morgan 2IP, 0R outing. EVEN BETTER is the offense getting us back into the game and enabling Gaddis to flex his stuff once again, Clase looking pretty good (damn ghost runner), and Barlow gets the job done!!!

For the first time this year, Chase DeLauter went deep at Akron, with a 2/3 and 2 RBI day. Khalil Watson and Aaron Bracho each go 2/4 as Akron blanks Erie 6-0. Down with CBus, everybody in the starting lineup got on base, with a Micah Pries home run, and doubles from Tena, Brito, Schneeman, and J.Rod leading them to a 7-4 victory.

Also, fuck Bally and their awful streaming. Carry on.

  2. I know I’ll be labeled a “reactionary hater” for this but Emmanuel Clase’s low K/9 is a huge red flag. In the current baseball environment, with the extra inning Manfred runner, getting a strikeout has never been more important for a relief pitcher.

In 2023 among all MLB closers (according to MLB.com closer report) only the Athletics Trevor May (7.7 K/9) posted a K/9 lower than Clase (7.9 K/9), and only 6 others had a K/9 less than 10.0. This year has been more of the same (7.7 entering today)

I’m not here to propose a replacement, though I do believe the high Save total he accumulated last year is not sustainable. On an off day I’ll dive in to the miss rates he has on his individual pitches.

TL;DR too many balls in play not ideal for closer, especially in extras

  3. I think Vogt is doing a really great job. Some of his lineups puzzle me a bit but his management of the bullpen is incredibly good so far

  4. That was interesting. And kinda fun. Nice to see our slap hitting terrorist goblins are in mid season form.

  5. We’ve already had like 5 games that were more entertaining than anything we saw last year. That was a hell of a game.

Fucking go guards. We’ve got something going for us right now. Need to get these SPs going deeper into games though.

  6. While we do need the starters to start getting deeper into games. This team is playing some great baseball and battling game in and game out. The bullpen had a hiccup tonight, but locked it done after a rough inning. The offense continues to find a way to score runs.

Vogt has this team playing some good baseball.

  7. Guardians offense bails out the pitching which is weird to say

I don’t know what Vogt said to Gabby and Flo, but holy shit that man can give a pep talk I guess

We are the best team in baseball by record now

  8. Man that was fuckin fun

Cool to see us recover from the bullpen having their worst showing so far – Barlow really nailed it at the end.

  9. I assume mods deleted it along with a few other posts just now but does anyone have that “slap hitting shit goblins” graphic that was posted? That was kinda sick.

  10. So I was watching the weird 3D GameDay thing on AtBat because I was also trying to watch Grizzly Man. Basically it renders the game in 3D live. Pretty neat. But anyways I’m watching it and the “camera” followed Florial and he did a little leap and fist pump thing when he got to first. He also leapt after his first career HR. All this to say Florial is a lil leaper and it’s adorable.

  11. For anyone who skipped the post game show, Andre is asking the translator questions for Arias and the translator is just turning around and repeating the question in English. It’s pretty great.

  12. I don’t think Arias’ current trajectory is sustainable but like hell I’m gonna complain about it after tonight.

Now if Freeman’s bat would stop being ice cold we’d be onto some real mojo.

  13. ##ARE THE GUARDIANS THE CONTENTS OF A 2.3-MILLION-GALLON MOLASSES STORAGE TANK THAT WAS POORLY CONSTRUCTED AND INSUFFICIENTLY TESTED?

###’CAUSE THEY ROLLED OVER BOSTON TONIGHT

  14. Well that one got pretty wild. Great game. Bibee was solid and effective, just not as efficient as id like. Smith had his first rough day, interested to see how he bounces back. Morgan was damn good. Gaddis continues to impress and dominate.

Arias stays hot and hit. Freeman woke up and shocked everyone. Kwan is a beast. Florial came up big and looked good in RF.

    I enjoyed this one
