The fact that some people are mad at the flyers is completely insane to me.
Here’s a thought for you: the flyers simply weren’t scoreboard watching. Their situation would’ve also required the pens to lose as well, they had to play and take care of business today and then wait for tomorrow. To me, there’s no way in hell they knew or wanted to know, especially considering the fact they’d be doing it tomorrow.
And even if torts did know, why would he tell the players and change the strategy?
“Oh yeah we’re out of the playoffs now season’s over” with like 3-4 minutes left.
The flyers are playing for the flyers. They’re not playing for the red wings.
Well that differential accompanied by the islanders -18 in third place really goes to show the strength of that metropolitan division.

Instead of standings tie breakers, make the wings play the caps. Winner makes the playoffs. Would be incredible and would bring in quite a bit of viewership
