I believe his name is Johnny Poodreau
I think, after a lot of hard feelings, I have to consider Johnny a casualty of circumstance. u/reactivecypress made some great points about the legacy and potential he abandoned, and the apparent lunacy of the decision to do so. I think if not for the pandemic, he doesn’t make that decision. He never seemed like a particularly mature guy, but he did seem like a family guy. I think the separation and isolation for both him and his wife was too much, and it led him to pick, when ultimately faced with the decision, his family over his career. I really don’t like the way he left, but I can understand why he left.
He just wanted the easy money and be in a market that had no expectations of a cup. You can tell he got burnt out playing on a Canadian team so took the easy payday instead of ever winning a cup.

•No one with brain cells thought he was going to turn the team into a playoff contender.
•He was tired of all the yelling and finger pointing in the dressing room, busting it and then not getting far in the playoffs. He wanted to have a change of scenery. Columbus came a calling.
•Johnny’s not poor. He’ll be ok.
As a Devils fan, I’m almost joyous about this, considering he spurned us as a UFA.
