  1. Interesting. Well, Jay has options and if Tonkin can be restored via the lab, could be another arm to consume an inning here and there.

  2. I know Jay was a good story but I fear his story really overshadowed his mediocreness for a lot of people

  3. Stearns with the 4D chess move. Trade him for cash then get him back when the Twins are done with him!!

  4. What? The Mets waived him because he was terrible and then bring him back? What’s going on here?

  5. I like to think this was a planned ruse by Stearns. Get some money for him from Minnesota, who thought they could sneak him through waivers and stash him in the minors, knowing full well you’ll just take him right back for free when they try.

  6. People talk about wanting a Rays-quality FO until they get it. Being emotionless and treating the back of the roster as exchangeable pieces to suit the team’s short-term needs is exactly how smart teams maximize their 40 and 26 man rosters. Even if a AAAA guy has a heartwarming story attached, he unfortunately still needs to ride the minors-to-majors-and-back shuttle with the rest of the fringe guys.

  7. I do not understand this move at all. He was terrible and we were a bad team while he was here.
