17. I like to think this was a planned ruse by Stearns. Get some money for him from Minnesota, who thought they could sneak him through waivers and stash him in the minors, knowing full well you’ll just take him right back for free when they try.

18. People talk about wanting a Rays-quality FO until they get it. Being emotionless and treating the back of the roster as exchangeable pieces to suit the team’s short-term needs is exactly how smart teams maximize their 40 and 26 man rosters. Even if a AAAA guy has a heartwarming story attached, he unfortunately still needs to ride the minors-to-majors-and-back shuttle with the rest of the fringe guys.
