*N*ot exactly the ending we wanted.
*I*nteresting first round matchup.
*C*an’t hate on Jones, he helped save us earlier.
*E*veryone stay calm. The real games begin!
I will forever irrationally hate Tyler Bertuzzi for disallowing Matthews that hat trick a month ago
I’m actually sad for him. He deserved that.
What a season! Matthews is 100% that guy, 69 goals is an unreal finish. Let’s go win a Stanley Cup.
I really want to know what Keefe was saying to Matthews as the horn blew
Well, that was frustrating.
That’s the way she goes, Auston. Sometimes she goes, sometimes she doesn’t, cause that’s the fuckin’ way she goes.
Sounds about right. Not the game – Matthews shut out but Kucherovs bitch ass gets his 100th assist.
It was clear these past 2 games that they were trying for 70. Matthews wins another rocket trophy which is unreal. Let’s go win the cup
Well this has been a fucking nightmare
Hey if this means a hungrier Matty in the playoffs, we take it. Historic season regardless
wtf are we going to do about our blueline next season? it’s so glaringly bad and we have no cap to do anything about it..
Sad ending to the reg season but it’s playoff time now. Matthews will break a playoff goal record next.
Limping into the playoffs off of some terrible losses and goaltending performances with no 70 goals for Matthews is such a bad vibe. I have an absolutely terrible feeling about this upcoming series.
I thought JT was Matthews on that goal which was pretty devastating.
But hey, 69 is still amazing, he can get 70+ next year.
I know a lot of people wanted 70, but 69 is just perfection.
It’s ok Auston, I haven’t scored 70 in an NHL season either
As Leafs fans i think we all knew that would happen. Kuch would get it and AM wouldn’t. It’s Leafs things.
Honestly don’t take this one at face value. This was just about feeding PAPI. Wish we pulled sooner however the 70 chase is at rest for now.
Lets get out strong for boston. #69 is still insane.
Obviously bummed we couldn’t get it for Auston but I’m glad we can get back to playing actual hockey and not this frustrating “force it to Auston” play.
Gotta say, it pissed me the fuck off that Brodie scored and they seemed almost sad. Longest goal drought in the league broken. First goal since his father passed. And they all look dejected about it. Hoping Matthews uses this disappointment as fuel. The real season starts now.
Too focused on Matthews. Maybe if they had played their regular game he would have gotten it.
“we have to play Matthews the last 2 games so he gets 70” 🙄
Instead we can get embarrassed for 2 games trying to force a Matthews goal
The Leafs didn’t get goalied tonight – just Matthews.
The people hating on other guys scoring are not real fans
69 is fitting record for this team
Well, disappointing end, but 69 goals is a damn respectable record. Fun watching the best goalscorer in the league chase that milestone.
This was pure playoff Leaf hockey
Big time Atlantic division rival
Coming out disinterested in the game
Big defensive breakdowns
Goals from random role players
Goose eggs from the stars
We even got the half assed fall short comeback out of it too.
We are more ready for playoff hockey than ever, Bruins Saturday night
Hope he’s even hungrier not hitting the milestone. He’s still our MVP and fans should be letting him know that game 3.
Luckily they are no longer chasing a milestone so the team can stop focusing on getting Matthews the puck and get back to playing hockey. Bring on the Bruins.
Can I point out that Cooper purposely abandoned his defensive system specifically to prevent Matthews hitting 70 and how much of a douche bag move it was? They had 3 guys on him and gave up 2 goals just to deny him 70.
I love that Matthews hit 60 and wished he could have 70, but watching the team trying to feed him when he had 59 and now with 69 is not hockey that I want to watch. Good thing this game means absolutely nothing.
I didn’t hate Keefe before, but now I’m open to shipping him out if this post season is no different.
I hope Matthews is pissed. I see a Game 1 hat trick incoming from him. GLG
