Please be the latter. I may be in the minority, but I trust Nix more than McCarthy as it is right now. Plus, we need to retain at least some of the main pieces of our roster.

This makes sense. Belichek said something on McAfee show yesterday that is important to remember, 5th round option is a big deal for QBs. As much as everyone thinks taking Nix in the 2nd is possible 5th year option on a QB is very important.
I think it’s a GREAT idea to trade our best defensive player since Von Miller, and best CB since Champ Bailey, for an unproven rookie that statistically is likely to be a bust!…./s
I genuinely like McCarthy. I like him more than Nix. I think he can be a future franchise guy if he goes to the right spot.
But a Broncos team completely devoid of talent for the foreseeable future is not the right spot. Our roster is not the worst in the league only because Carolina and debatably New England exist. I just can’t get excited about a young developmental QB when I’m worried we’ll ruin his development on a bottom-5 team for the next 3 years if we mortgage the future.
Give me trade-backs for Nix, or BPA at 12 and a trade up into the 2nd for Nix/Penix.

Will the Vikings take QB5 at 11 or try to wait until 23? Do the Raiders take QB5? I think the perfect scenario if we don’t get a top 4 QB is to trade down and draft Nix but I’m just worried that he won’t be there after a trade down. Maybe that’s fine and we have Pratt in the 3rd as a fallback

Getting rid of PS2 for JJ is an absolutely awful idea.
It would be bat shit insane to give up Surtain *and* a future first (which will very likely be a top 10, even top 5 pick) for McCarthy. I don’t know what the NFL is smoking on McCarthy. Sure he’s promising but he’s fucking raw. He’s the type of guy you draft and stash for a few years, he’s not a savior.
I think about all the images of the browns fans with paper bags on their heads and “sticking by their team” and how fans stick around during the worst times. I’ve been a fan since I was 8 in 97′ If the broncos trade surtain for anything at any point this season, I think I’m done rooting for them. The keep making the worst front office decisions since we won the Super Bowl. The Super Bowl win allowed me to keep the “we can turn it around easily” mentality for years. After the Russel contract bust that me and every fan saw coming, I don’t trust the broncos anymore. The trade of surtain will probably make me cut ties if so. Not a solid probably but I’m barely hanging on here lol
McCarthy is the next Zach Wilson. He’s a second rounder that needs work to even be an adequate qb.
I think JJ probably is the 4th best QB prospect in the draft but what scares me is I legit can’t tell if he is closer to the top 3 talent wise or the next 3 Qbs going after him.
