NHL Rebrand Ideas, 5yo edition

Over the regular season, we asked our 4-5 year old (she turned 5 during the season) if she could guess the names of each team. Some were more obvious, like the Penguins and the Coyotes. Others she happened to (badly) overhear the announcers, like the Hucks and the Contreals.

She is particularly devoted to her “Fire C’s” and her “Green Team Stars!” It bothers her greatly that her father doesn’t root for his favorite super hero(es) The Captain Americas.

  1. she cooked with sun trees tbh

also she’s not… wrong? about the bruins?

and that kid loves her animals doesnt she

  2. These are great. I remember a little kid calling the Oilers “the raindrops” and the Sabres “the rhinos” (this is when the black goat-head jerseys were their standard).

  3. Man I gotta try this with my five year old. He’s a total butt. I’m sure he’ll come up with hilarious answers

  4. Sad we escaped the rebrand unscathed (SHARKS! and DUCKS! now have to use all caps and the exclamation mark everywhere, obviously)

  5. Just asked mine, my favorites were: Canes=Swirly Swirls, Isles=Mayonnaise Pucks, Jackets=”America”, Canucks=Magnets, Habs=Horseshoes, and the Panthers=Cheetah Tortilla

  6. These are amazing.

When I was a kid I never understood why the Isles had a huge M in their logo. Took me a bit to see past that dang optical illusion.

Also didn’t see anyone mention this but Dotty Spots is so good haha

  7. Philly already has a team called the Wings, and somehow, they’ve been more depressing than the NHL team for the past decade.
