[Slater] Here is a very detailed Steve Kerr answer on Moses Moody’s fluctuating playing time and the continued need to find him more minutes – “Decision-making on both ends need to improve. Quicker decisions. Quicker rotations defensively. Recognition patterns. I want his shot quicker” (2:38)

  1. Players get better at all those things with more minutes. Moody averaged 17 mpg..c’mon Steve.

Fuck it, just keep spamming the 3 guard lineup that consistently turned the ball over all season.

  2. JK is also constantly late on defensive rotations, has extremely slow decision making, and still can’t recognize patterns to save his life and he was given a starting role, averaged 26.3 mpg, and billed as the future of the franchise all season while repeatedly and consistently doing all of things, all the way up until the very end.

    Also in the soundbite:

    > “There are times where he’s open, he doesn’t shoot it, he drives it and we immediately lose the advantage.”

Podz literally does this on 98% of offensive possessions. He also is late on defensive rotations, almost always because he’s out of position to begin with hunting for a charge or massively overhelping. His decision making offensively is also incredibly slow (it’s the reason he constantly gets stuck in the paint after driving in aimlessly and then picking up his dribble). He averaged 26.6 mpg and got to start 28 games all while and despite doing these things.

The varying standards young players in this franchise are held to is so damn aggravating and the lack of acknowledgement that the varying standards exist (and to a very illogical degree, ie why is a player with a role player ceiling held to standards far and above that of your supposed future franchise player?), even more so.

  3. Just more excuses from Kerr.

Moody didn’t even come into the game until 9:48 in the 2nd. He then scored 12 points in 7 minutes of non-garbage time play.

Just trade him already. The season is over and Kerr is already planning excuses not to play Moody next season.

  4. I totally see that glad he clarified. Jk got more time when he made quick decision too. At least we know

  5. Catch 22. Hard to improve if you aren’t given opportunities or minutes. There’s only so much you can learn in practice. Same as JK – consistent minutes and a consistent role supercharged his growth.

  6. Please trade Moody so we don’t have to listen to these Moodyminutesmen over and over. I’m sure once we trade him he’ll go on to be a perennial all star hall of famer and it was just Kerr and his coaching staff holding him back cuz they’re just so much poorer at player evaluation than the basketball savants on this dubsub

  7. Hey Kerr, maybe we should be slowing things down a bit too limit turnovers rather than prioritize speed at the cost of sloppy play

  8. Out here criticizing the guy that actually played well in the most important game of the year. Inexcusable that he didn’t play Moody more in this game and throughout the year.

  9. Gives rational, simple explanation of the gaps that exist in Moody’s game and nephews ignore it and claim it’s about bias toward ‘vets’. This sub sux sometimes.
