What’s the batting lineup for today ? Is Devers out ?
The 2024 red sox formula…..
1) Jump out to an early lead of 2-0 or so as the front of our lineup comes out firing
2) Cough up 4-5 runs in short order in the middle innings, featuring just 1 or 2 balls hit out of the infield if they’re lucky. All while our infield scurries around to the Benny Hill theme.
3) Either it stays as is or if we’re feeling especially froggy, we mount a late inning rally including the weekly or biweekly occurrence of someone from the bottom of our lineup walking into one.
4 if necessary) The bullpen promptly coughs it back up, plus or minus a few more unearned runs and/or blown calls.
But it’s time to flip the script – Duran causes a glitch in the matrix with his speed and scores 4 runs on the same play. Someone convinces Yoshida it’s June and he hits a grand slam. Gronkowski shows up out of nowhere and scores a touchdown and we’re up 15-0 before anyone realized what happened. Either we’ve successfully bullpen and defense-proofed the game, or we rewrite the comeback victory record books. It’s going to be special regardless!
Refsnyder hitting 3rd and Wong 5th. Dalbec at 3rd. But at least we face a rookie.
That 7.74 ERA scares the crap out of me…said nobody.
This is a suprisingly close matchup, no knock on the Sox the Pirates have just really come out to play this season
Hopefully this is not a repeat of the Sox/Pirates series last year.
