Day 82 of posting my favorite Raiders player to wear the number of the day: James Jett

To this day, one of the fastest players I have ever seen. Jett won a gold medal in the 1992 Olympics as part of the men's 4x100m relay team. But when it comes to football, he finished his career with 1,384 yards and 11 touchdowns. He also had 125 returns for 1,620 yards, totaling 3,076 career all-purpose yards. A truly explosive player in every sense of the word. I recommend anyone who doesn’t know Jett watch some film on YouTube, this dude had BURNERS.

  1. Two of his not-so-deep touchdowns are very memorable to me:

    * After Tim Brown brought us back from a huge deficit, he caught the game-winner against the Jets with less than 20 seconds left in one of my favorite live games in Oakland
    * With Brown and Rice being held on every play, he caught the game-opening touchdown in the snow in our win* at New England in the ’01-’02 playoffs

  2. I remember in the 90’s off-seasons you could just turn on NBC randomly on a Saturday afternoon and he would be racing other athletes

  3. The yards and TD is wrong . Had to double check because for as long as he played for us that didn’t seem right . Actually had over 4400 yds and 33 recieveing TDs if you count his 3 playoff TDs .

Edit- just noticed those totals you added are his college stats at WV

  4. I know I haven’t been commenting, but after your other post, I wanted to be sure to thank you for continuing.

And I couldn’t agree more with this one and yesterday’s. Probably my favorite duo was Brown and Jett.
