I honestly thought AK was about to announce his resignation when it started. He sounded like he was reading a suicide note. There’s no way he’s not about to nuke this team from orbit.
To me, rebuilding just makes the most sense for where this team is at. Our players worth keeping are all young and can develop more when we suck (Coby/Ayo/Pat). Next year will be a loaded draft and if we suck we have a very good chance of keeping he pick.
I just don’t see how we make this team “more competitive” and fight for a top 6 seed since all of our trade assets are low value. We won’t get much by trading Zach or Vooch and if we trade Caruso we are losing our most competitive piece.
I’d rather just trade zach for bad contracts and picks (think Klay thompson or CJ Mccolum), sign and trade demar whever he wants to go for a pick or a young player. Then try to trade Vooch, but honestly he can be our tank commander.
Let Coby work on his consistency by being the number one option next season and let Pat and Ayo work on their games as higher usage guys.
There’s something about AK reading in a bored monotone from a bland script filled with cliches and tired phrases he’s repeated for years that gives me reassurance that this club is headed in the right direction under that kind of leadership.
