DeJounte Murray on his relationship with Coach Pop : “I love that dude to death. He was a father for me. When I lost people (which is a lot of people in my life), I would go to his room, and he would give me that hug – I would cry on his shoulder. That hug means so much to me.”

  1. DeJounte Murray is one of those players where I still have love and respect for his journey to make it to where here is today. Seeing his development and adversity to come back from his ACL injury was very inspiring. I still have fond memories of coming on here and being reminded to vote for DJ for the all star games and being so excited for him when he was announced as an all star.

  2. Relationships with people can be complicated. I know everyone jumps between Murray hates Pop/Spurs or Murray loves Pop with no in between. The thing is that Murray can like Pop and also have some grievances or disagreements with some of his decisions.

  3. He still needs to address that stuff with Tony Parker. I get they aren’t friends, but he said some things people felt were unfair about him.

  4. To anyone who thinks dejounte is a bad person:

I worked at six flags fiesta texas a few years ago, when dejounte was still on the team. While operating Superman, he came up the exit side of the station with a VIP guide. When VIPs enter at the exit of the ride, the ride operators are to hold the entrance gates for the ride and allow the VIP to board. Usually when a VIP got up to the station, they thought they were the coolest mf on the planet and demanded to be seated on the next train, moved slowly to their, and overall disrupted the work of my colleagues and the experience of the other guests. That wasn’t Dejounte. There was not a single guest I ever saw that was more kind and considerate than Dejounte. He thanked the attendants for everything they did and was considerate to those around him. It’s simple things, yes, like moving quickly to his seat with his family, choosing a row that has no one waiting for it rather than the front row, and “thank you”s that seem like anyone can do, but Dejounte was one of few who actually did. This is just a small and simple example, but it’s why I’ll personally always be cheering him on a little bit during his career.

  5. People on the internet when they realize that human relationships are complicated and that you can care for someone that you’ve had difficult times with:
