1. After the clippers call a timeout, the clippers get an easy basket every time 

   After the Mavs call a timeout, we get a maxi 30 footer 

2. This is on Kidd, he didn’t cut the head off the snake when he had the chance. No adjustments and bad timeout management in that first half stretch.

   We showed fight in the second half, let’s go get game 2.

3. On to game 2.

4. Clippers came out gun blazing, couldn’t miss any threes, dominated the offensive rebounds AND Mavs just weren’t making anything in the first half. Yet we came back, fought hard and brought it back to a close game. It’s not time to overreact yet.

5. We really brought it back in the second half. If we play like that, and the Clippers don’t hit every shot they take. We should looking better next game.

6. That was inexcusable. I can’t comprehend how and why the Mavs played so badly. I don’t rate Kidd as a coach really but I thought a performance that bad was beyond him and certainly beyond this roster.

7. Josh Green needs to have ALL of THJ’s minutes going forward

8. That was terrible but nothing we can do but move on to the next game. If we lose to the Clips without Kawhi in b2b games then this team just isn’t what we thought it was. Time to see what we’re made of on Tuesday, Kidd better have some adjustments

9. Horrible game all around. Offense was awful and Clips couldn’t miss for large portion of the game. But the only part of game that concerns me for the series was how much Maxi played. Neither Gaff or Lively were good but having Maxi makes us play 4 on 5 on offense every possession. He gives us NOTHING on that end

17. We will win the series. Today is just an off night for them

18. Weirdly feel… fine after that? First half was so bad you have to write it off as a fluke. Looked way better in the second half, so hopefully can carry that into game 2.

    Clippers were the home team and heard all the “you have no chance without Kawhi” talk and came out extra motivated. Hit a billion threes. Mavs looked rusty after a week off. Shit happens. Game 2 will determine whether we’re actually screwed or not (and think Kawhi definitely won’t play next game now, for what that’s worth).

20. Kidd not challenging the harden 3 down 16, allowing them to go up 19 instead of cutting to 13 or 14, was the early nail in the coffin. Good thing he saved it for game 2

22. My goodness the stark gap between the coaches was clear just in the out of timeout plays. They murdered us there.

26. The centers can’t let themselves get destroyed like that by Zubac, have to set the tone early in the paint because these Clippers are dangerous from 3. Can’t let them have it both ways

27. Need to let kyrie take over more in the 4th. He was heating up and we went away from him

28. This is playoff basketball. Yeah Mavs were disappointing. But it’s just started. I hope we won’t overreact but I know we will

29. Josh Green with 4 points on 0 shots, 1 reb, 1 ast, 2 stl, 1 block all in 9 minutes is insane. Unacceptable that he played 10 seconds before the 3rd quarter.

    Luka and Gafford were particularly atrocious in the 1st half. Exum and DJJ contributed nothing. PJ played well, Kyrie stepped up in the 3rd but would’ve been nice for him to have more of an impact in the 1st half with Luka playing so poorly. Would’ve liked to see a lineup with PJ at the 5 late in the game when we were trailing double digits.

    Can’t get abused this badly on the boards. Yes, a lot of it was Zubac being immune from fouls and constantly going over the back and shoving, but Gafford having 0 boards is insane. Lively’s gotta figure out how to make more of an impact, too. I know he’s young and this is as big as it gets, but I believe he can do it.

30. Mavs are going to need Green’s energy and corner 3-point shooting if they hope to have a chance against LAC. I’m surprised that Kidd played him so little, and I’m disappointed that Luka didn’t make a concerted effort to get Josh some good looks so that he could try to get into rhythm for game 2.

31. Why is Zubac not getting dragged out to the perimeter every play? Am I missing something? Non-mobile 7 footers should be getting played off the floor in the playoffs.

33. This was pretty bad ngl but it’s a 7-game series. Also the 2nd half was far better so no need to start dooming.

34. Russ hit corner threes, Zu was prime Yao and MVP Harden started the game… pair that with the 8 pt 2nd and it was a wrap

35. Lets seriously aim to avoid dooming as a fanbase this year. It takes courage to support a team even when they get mocked (which the mavs likely will). Love when theyre up, love when theyre down. Besides a 12 pt loss in a road game 1 will be forgotten in history. We learned a lot too!

36. Challenging that Kleber foul on a Harden 3 could have stopped the Clips momentum from ballooning.

37. Give all of THJ’s minutes to Josh. He can spend his extra time on the bench learning Chinese.

38. Everyone not named Luka and Kyrie combined to go 10-36 from the floor. If the role players just shoot like 45% we win.

39. Gross. Centers got their asses whooped today, easily their worst combined performance of the season. Cut the iso bullshit and get gaff and lively back on track and we’re back in it.

    Get the horrible game out of the way, allow the players with minimal playoff experience to really understand the pressure of playoff basketball, make the adjustments and go for game 2.

45. * How the hell were we +3 in Luka’s minutes? He played 42 minutes and wasn’t good and still managed a +3 in his minutes. Have to figure out what the hell happened in the other 6 minutes, we were -15.
    * Gafford and Lively were not effective at all. Gafford was awful! Might have to see more small ball minutes.
    * PJ was good defensively. Gonna need a bit more from him offensively.
    * DJJ and Exum were a disappointment.
    * Need better offensive from Maxi, but he was good defensively too.
    * THJ looked like the THJ from the last 3 months. Once again with a solo fastbreak turnover and a missed open layup.
    * Green was effective in his minutes but was too late. Might need to play him over Green.

    Sometimes the role players are not going to show up, but ultimately we needed a better start from Luka and Kyrie. Both stepped it up in the 2nd half, but the damage was already done by then. I’m not worried about the defense the rest of the way. The Clips made unbelievable shots even when they were covered. It’s the offense that is worrying me. Need a better start from Luka and Kyrie cause role players feed off them. If they come off flat, the whole team is going to be flat.

    Luckily this is only 1 game, but Kidd has to have this team prepared from the beginning. There was no excuse for the team to come out flat. Lue had his guys prepared and they were missing Kawhi.
