✂️ Where does Bruce Smith rank amongst all time D lineman? It makes sense for him to be so high on a list like this but compared to Guys like Donald and Reggie White, where would he rank?

Keep in mind I’m too young to know shit shit about Bruce smith lure. I just know he was a demonic force for a good while

  1. He was a Bad bad man, he was a disruptive and at times unmanageable presence. I watched him flatten Drew Bledsoe his rookie season, he was so quick, so strong and fast, changed the position.

  2. Defiantly top 5. Was a disruptor, played the run, did everything you need need and wowed as a 3-4 DE, which is harder than any other line position to stand out in.

  3. As far as DEs, he’s the top. 200 sacks and the majority of those coming out of a 3-4 defense. All due respect to Reggie White and Deacon Jones but Bruce’s numbers don’t lie

  4. Top 3 behind LT and White.

Donald and Watt are up there and others would move them around with Smith but Bruce played at a high level for a long time.

AD was unique as primarily a DT though.

  5. #1.

Top three are Smith, White, and Jones.

Smith is number 1 not just because he is the leader in sacks and the best pass rusher. But he was also an incredible monster vs the run.

White was good against the run but not great. And Jones while quite good against the run. Not nearly the pass rusher white or smith were.

Bruce smith is the best DE, and best DL player ever.

  6. Ive always viewed Smith to the Bills and NFL as Hasek is to the Sabres and NHL.

People will argue the order til they are blue in the face regarding Hasek, Brodeur, and Roy… much like Smith, White, and LT. At the end of the day from what ive seen it seems the majority opinion is that Hasek is the best tendie in NHL history and White the best defensive player in NFL history.

  7. In 2010, the NFL came out with a list of the 100 greatest players of all time. Bruce ranked 6th among defensive linemen – behind Reggie White, Joe Greene, Deacon Jones, Bob Lilly, and Merlin Olsen. In the last 14 years, Aaron Donald is the only defensive lineman to jump ahead of Bruce. (J.J. Watt came close, but injuries cut his prime short.) So I guess Bruce would be 7th.

  8. GOAT.

People forget that he did what he did as a 34 DE, and he just kept going and going. Between total production and career longevity, idk how it’s an argument. You can say people had more dominant stretches for the time they played but tough to argue with the body of work especially when adjusting for position

  9. He’s still the all time sack leader right? I love Aaron Donald but it’s Bruce & Reggie 1a/1b. Then theres like a gap and then #2 could be AD, Strahan, Jason Taylor, JJ Watt in his prime, Richard Dent, John Randle, Peppers, Mean Joe Greene, Deacon Jones, Randy White from Dallas.

AD is probably 3 at best.
