Chris Paul Rumors: Warriors PG Linked to Spurs Ahead of 2024 NBA Free Agency

How we feelin about this one?

  1. X to doubt. I feel like the Spurs just aren’t the type of team he’s looking for, and I think there’s absolutely a contender that he could fill the role that Lowry’s currently filling for the 76ers (pretty sure CP3 is better than Lowry rn anyway). I don’t think CP3 was bad by any means this season, the fit just wasn’t that great with the Warriors

  2. The ONLY way this happens is the warriors picking up his guarantee and trade him. But that won’t happen because no team will willingly give up assets for him at 30 million when he could just hit free agency for around 10 million. He’ll likely take his last chance to play with Lebron.

  3. CP3 isn’t a championship piece anymore, but playing with a legendary point guard could definitely help Wemby’s development. I’d be happy with it for the right price.

  4. Anyone who says no to this at a reasonable price does not know ball. He’s a great presence to have for a young team, and there’s pretty much no scenario where we’re competing for a championship next year anyway. He would be perfect for the next stage of growth if he were willing.

  5. Yup it’s that time of year again.

“Free agent X linked to the Spurs” rumors are in the air. Media members claiming they know what the Spurs front office will do in free agency and in the draft.

It’s truly the off season, baby!

  6. Chris Paul talks about wanting a ring all the time. He isn’t ring chasing with the Spurs.

  7. CP3 wants to compete for a championship so I highly doubt he would want to come here.

If we end up drafting a guard, I would love for him to come. His high IQ for the game would be a great resource for your young core to learn from.

  8. I get there are plenty of Spurs fans who don’t like Chris Paul as a person. And there are plenty of Spurs fans who think he’s absolutely over the hill, which to be fair. If you’re asking him to be a top three/ four player on your team, he definitely is.

But if Paul himself is the party generating interest with this or has mutual interest then it’s a no-brainer for San Antonio. He most certainly isn’t going to command A big contract and he would be an unbelievable veteran. Not just for Victor but for Jones and Devin too. He’s one of the best players in the pick and roll really… In NBA history. He’s pretty much a player coach with his level of intelligence and he would be an incredibly powerful voice to have in the locker room and off the bench

Now to be clear, I’m not so sure. I believe this rumor simply because it’s hard to imagine. Paul going willingly to a situation that would all but guarantee he ends up as one of the best players to never win a ring in NBA history. But if for some reason being in San Antonio and being with the young guys is something he’s interested in then I wouldn’t have an issue with it

I remember hearing rumors years ago that Paul was interested in being a coach after he retired. Maybe he goes to San Antonio for a year and then transitions into an assistant role or something. Who knows. San Antonio may not be a hotbed for a player free agency but it’s absolutely a hotbed for people looking to get their foot in the door and get a really good resume going working on pops coaching staff

  9. Don’t do it spurs, don’t take Trae or cp3 and keep developing young core and 2024 draft picks. Can probably trim some of the fat (and I might be about to eat my words here) but collins can probably go.

I’d really focus on Johnson, sochan, jones given Wemby and vassell are locked.

Cedi? Cissoko? Champengi ? Wesley? Mamu? Graham? Who knows?

  10. I would absolutely consider it. He really helped Phoenix learn how to play and actually compete.

  11. I can tell that a lot of you guys don’t know anything about ball from these comments.

  12. I wish he came this season. Wouldve been nice to see him play with Wemby and mentor all our guards.
