OTD in 2023: It’s a “no brainer” as Derek Shelton gets a contract extension

The team was off to a 14-7 start. Even though Shelty's overall record at the time was 156-249 for a .385 win pct., the Pirates extended his contract beyond 2023. Now at the same time in 2024, he sports an overall record of 229-339 for a .403 win pct.
Was it the right move?

I’m not a big proponent of calling for coach’s jobs but the team looked like they’d rather be anywhere else this weekend. Stupid mistakes, errors, lack of effort… even Cutch threw a helmet. It’s hard to watch. I don’t know what’s going on behind the scenes but Shelton needs to do something or he is going to be in hot water.

Or not, because Nutting cheap, but in theory
