[Ruff] Rod Brind’Amour confirms pre-game that Frederik Andersen will start Game 2 for the Canes against the Islanders. It will be the first time since returning from a blood clotting issue that #31 will play consecutive games. No changes to the skaters in front of him.

No surprise here, but figured it was worth sharing while waiting for the lineup article.

  1. I think this is reasonable. If Freddie gets the W again tonight, I’d probably go with Kochetkov in game 3. I know a lot of people don’t like using two goalies in the playoffs, but the alternating games thing worked pretty well since Freddie’s return and Pyotr is good and I’d rather keep Freddie fresh and Pyotr involved than just ride Freddie alone even though he’s playing very well.

  2. Absolutely the right call for this. I could see a Kochetkov start game 3, but I don’t think it would happen with a 2-day layoff. Game 4 maybe?

  3. I’m not even a canes fan but I like the fanbase a lot and of course happy to see Freddie look so good

  4. Freddie is so injury-prone that I’d honestly rather see a rotation in net – but I also understand sticking with the guy who’s hot, and the way he played Saturday it would be damn tough to keep him on the bench.

If they win #2, I’d say let Koochie take 3 and 4, but if you’re only up by one stick with The Great Dane.
