  1. This is why the “sell the team” thing drives me crazy. Monfort invests and spends, he just does it consistently poorly.

  2. Hot take, Monfort is a middle of the road owner. No, he doesn’t put winning above all else, but he does spend and he doesn’t hold taxpayers hostage for a new ballpark.

I don’t think the Rockies will ever be great, but at least I know they will be a fun use of 3 hours for a few bucks at 20th and Blake for many decades.

  3. I feel like I could have written this article.

The prevailing idea that Monfort doesn’t care is completely false. He just doesn’t know what he’s doing and won’t let anyone else take the reins.

If you talk to him about the Rockies, you’ll quickly realize that the guy is absolutely dying to win. He just doesn’t accept that the path to winning probably means him being much less involved.

  4. I want a good product, not just a good container. He refuses to do that because of his ego.

  5. “Monfort spends”

Yeah. On guys like KB. While letting Tulo, ‘Nado, CarGo, etc. walk away.

Fuck Dick Monfort. And I’m not being gaslit into thinking he’s anything BUT an apathetic money printer. It’s not that he doesn’t care about winning…it’s that he would rather lose. Less salary demands when you keep a team in the toilet. Sign a name like Bryant every now and then, but never sign enough talent to break the bank or fall into another Rocktober run.
